Excellent non-clay litter
We adopted two kittens a few years ago (our only furry loved ones), and from day one I was hoping to use non-clay litter. One of the kittens, even if she didn't love the litter, would reliably use the box. The other quickly came to use corners, rugs, carpet, and other locations to urinate. That really made life with her unpleasant. Moreover, due to urinary tract sensitivities, we have to mix significant water into her food, so she makes lots of urine. We finally got her back to the box by using Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract, but even after that, her princess tendencies became apparent, and we needed numerous litter boxes religiously cleaned daily to keep her urinating in the box. We tried making available alternate litters in additional boxes, and while she might try them once or twice, would never regularly use them. We went through Yesterday's News pellets in Breeze boxes, World's Best Cat Litter, AltaGama, the Cat Attract, and finally just settled into Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat with a lot of boxes and Non-Scents Litter Deodorizer. It worked, but the clay litter leaves much to be desired. It dusts heavily, especially on scoop-sifting, is heavy, and worst of all, forms that infuriating substance: pisscrete. Pisscrete really sucks. It scratches the heck out of litter boxes and scoops (accelerating how quickly the box smells objectionable to cats), sticks relentlessly to most litter boxes, and causes clumps to break up and leave small residual pisscrete bits to foul up the litter box. Cleaning off pisscrete, even with wipes, requires the patience of a saint. We tried expensive non-stick litter boxes, but the pisscrete eventually broke down the non-stick coating.I finally did another round of research, and after considering walnut-based and other non-clay litters, decided to give the The Good Earth grass-based litter a try. We stopped with the Precious Cat and started slowly mixing in The Good Earth to greater and greater extents. Both cats grew used to it, and several bags later, it is the only litter we are buying. Finally - a non-clay litter even the princess cat is happy with! The Good Earth is way lighter and easier to handle, clumps well, and odor control is pretty good. It does have a noticeable grassy, earthy smell to it, but it's not objectionable. Our boxes are all unenclosed, and we only have an odor issue when the cats do a bad job of covering their poo. There's maybe a touch more tracking than clay, but only very locally and we never see it around the house. My two favorite aspects are the way lower dust levels, and NO PISSCRETE! It doesn't muck up scoops and comes cleanly off litter boxes. I don't know how the measurements behind claims like "99% dust free" are made, but I suspect the the denser and more brittle nature of clay that causes it to be far worse practically. We still have one "legacy" box containing the last of the clay and when I sift it, I can see, smell, and taste (ugh!) the dust. No such problems with The Good Earth. The clumps don't have the same rocklike cohesion as with the clay, but it's quite easy to keep the clumps from fracturing, and I'll gladly take less rocklike clumps for all the other benefits. After years of struggling with our "princess" cat, I am delighted we have a non-clay option about which the whole household can be happy. I was worried we were doomed to clay litter, "tasty" dust and sneezing cats, and pisscrete for the rest of our lives. It's such a relief to have found the litter that takes these concerns away!Note that I am totally uncompensated in any way for this review and just wanted to add my voice, having been frustrated with the other non-clay litter experiences we had.

Holy litter - this is amazing!
I'm almost afraid to write this review because then I'll jinx something. But, omg, I think I've found THE litter. I don't work for the brand, I didn't get this with a review, I hardly ever write reviews, I honestly thought grass litter was the weirdest idea. But this one is amazing. My cats took to it right away - no transition needed. It clumps so well and is softer than clay litter. Some of the clumps may seem hard to get out when you're first getting used to it, but I think that's because I wasn't used to them being so tight. There's no dust and the air around the box just feels cleaner. It smells earthy when you first dump it or when you're scooping. It's not obnoxious and goes away pretty quickly. I've noticed some odor immediately after one of my cats poops in it. However, it goes away within a minute and there's no odor the rest of the time. None. I was quarantined recently and forgot to tell my husband that I had moved one of the litter boxes. It didn't get cleaned for a week (I know, I know). The only way I realized it was because I looked. There wasn't any odor coming from it at all.It does track more than clay litter. I haven't been using a litter mat but will be trying one to see if it helps. The good part is that it doesn't stick to their paws, even my long-haired one who digs like she's a dog burying a bone.It is more pricey than others. I was able to fill two boxes from empty and then keep refilling for about a month. I'm not sure how long just refilling would last.Overall, I'm a huge fan.

No Complaints - Except Difficult to Get
At first our cat did not want to use this litter. He has his choice of three boxes - the other two with more typical clay or similar - and never would use this one. He would sniff, then walk by. One day, though, he started using it. Within a day or two, this one became his preferred litter. It has a pleasant, almost apple-like scent - not sure if this is grass or if they integrate apples in some way. It is super light. It isn't clumpy in the same way that clay is. Looks to be a bit more cereal-sticky. Tracking is no better or worse than clay. Regardless, it works, it's easy to clean and smells pleasant, and he prefers it. It isn't super expensive because 10 lbs of this stuff is a lot more voluminous than the clay and - since it does clump - can last a while. Per use, there may be a slight cost premium. If it fits the budget, it is definitely worth it. Now if we could only find somewhere that will sell us more. Amazon is currently out.

BEST cat litter ever!
I’m devastated that this product is still out of stock. It’s the best cat litter ever! No smell, easy clean up. Cats loved it, and by that I mean they didn’t refuse to use the litter box 😅 The only downside is that my dog loves this litter too! So we had to find a new spot in the house where the dog couldn’t get to it. Other than that, no other litter has been comparable. I’m so very very sad that since 2021, I haven’t been able to find this product again. It really is the absolute best cat litter, like ever! Seriously.Amazon, bring it back please!

Great product, would give a 5 star if it was plastic free.
Great smell control and good clumping. However wish it would come in paper bag OR box. Awful packaging choice for a product that's named Good Earth...
