Looks like what I need except unfortunately from the description it is NPS (straight), not NPT (tapered) national pipe thread.This probably explains why one reviewer had to grind off the end of his male NPT fitting to get it not to leak. NPT is tapered, wherease NPS relies on a rubber gasket rather than thread deformation to seal. That customer may have problems.

The new brass male pipe I use to connect to this bottomed out on the end of the threads. The hex part with the threads needs to be at least 2 threads longer to get a good seal with the taper and not let the male pipe bottom out. I ended up cutting off 2 thread on the male pipe I was using and wrapping it with 5 wraps of teflon tape before it would seal. The hex is 7/8" which leaves to little material at the root of the threads. After getting it to seal the hex was warped from the tightening.Edit 0ct 4, Added the photos to show the problems. The hex expanded .038". I had to grind off the threads on the street ell that is threaded in to the hose fitting in order to get it to seal.
