Good but could have been better
This film/series had me wanting to book a holiday straight away. The scenery is gorgeous, and it showed so many places to visit and enjoy! If you've ever read the Chalet School series by Elinor M Brent Dyer you'll recognise many of the places down, not just Pertisau but the Stubai glacier, Innsbruck, Seespitz and so much more. Unfortunately the narrator was clearly reading from a script the whole time and the narration was dull and overwritten - quite ironic when she commented on the overblown writing of Tyrolean June, a book written in the 1930s. As a film, I think it could have shown so much more rather than spending quite so much time simply watching her wander away from the camera.

Almost as good as being there...
What a fantastic tour of the English Lake District. This dvd is incredibly well filmed and the sound is perfect. Debra's commentary is friendly and informative and she takes us all over the Lakes, showing us places of interest and interviewing people along the way. I should have been holidaying in the Lakes this summer but, thanks to Covid-19, I had to cancel. This beautiful dvd made up for what I was missing. Thanks, Debra, for a great tour. Highly recommended.

Must try harder!
Although the scenery in which this is filmed is beautiful, the hosts (who should know better with all their experience) provide a dull, stilted commentary with only occasional moments of relaxed, honest reflection on the world around them, the camera-work has the tendency to be dreadfully shaky and there are far too many views of feet marching off into the distance. Train-buffs may find this interesting, but there is little for the history-buff or even those keen on sports. (Strange given that Innsbruck hosted the winter Olympics on more than one occasion.) Armchair travellers may find something to enjoy, but those who really want to learn about the place would do well to pick up a book, even Tyrolean June (although you may be sick to death of it after hearing so much about it from our host)!

It was just perfect - almost too perfect
It was just perfect - almost too perfect! The scenery was outstanding and also the local population obviously take great pride in their lovely country, flowers everywhere and so clean and tidy. Debra Dixon as the narrator was unhurried in her explanation of where they were and we were able to sit back and enjoy it all. I intend buying more of these Footloose DVDs as its a wonderful way of visiting other countries in your home with the hope that we may be going one day ourselves.
