You Have to Use Hog Guts
I have been making homemade sausage for years. I worked in a butcher shop when I was in High School/College and made innumerous varieties of the sausage, so I have some experience. These are not as overpriced as some of the other offerings on Amazon. You can make nearly 75lbs. from one order. I hope you can appreciate that. I am 6'4" 230 lbs., a big guy, and I can eat maybe 1.5 lbs of sausage on my hungriest day (4 x ~12" links).1. They are packed well and keep in the fridge for a long time.2. Soak them in warm water for about 20-30 minutes, then run warm water through the inside. Keep them in the bowl of the rinsed warm water (get the salt out) next to your stuffer, and they slide right on.3. I like to twist each link in alternating directions to separate them, and these are strong enough to make the sausages "plump."I enjoy making sausage for when my friends are having a barbeque. I show up like the hero with 10-15 lbs. of sausage made from pork I purchase at $1.39-$1.69/lb ($20.00), $10.00 worth of ingredients to include the seasoning, stuffed into a half a pack of these ($6.00). Homemade sausage tastes way better than anything you can buy pre-packaged out of your local grocery store, and everybody loves it. The whole endeavor takes about 3 hours and costs ~$36.00 and you are feeding well over a dozen people. The best part is you don't even have to bring beer, just throw the "how did you like that sausage" line every time you reach for somebody else's libation. The best part is that you can get real gourmet with your sausages. Sometimes I splurge and throw some champagne or Guiness in there with maybe some Gruyere or Gorgonzola cheeses, oh my goodness I am getting hungry as I type this...I recommend not only making your own sausage, but making them with the DeWied Natural Hog Casings.

Great casing
Used these for making various sausages. Overall, a good casting, but the bag I opened to use had numerous holes in the casing length, and this made it a little challenging to finish the stuffing without restarting. Because it’s a natural product, there’s a million reasons you could get holes, Including just having a weak spot that pops when stuffing. I would certainly use this again. From one bag, I was able to make about 30 pounds of kielbasa and Italian sausages. The casing did great in the smoker, too. A great product for what I needed.

So proud of myself
I used my grandmother's recipe to make sausages. They were a lot of work but amazing. Using my Kichen Aid mixer grinder and stuffer attachment made it super simple. They do smell funny. Which is normal. But it took me a minute to adjust to the very animal smell of them. Worked great. Totally recommend.

Poor quality
I bought these pork casings to make bratwurst. These casings came in 3 packages for making 20 lbs. of sausage for each. I was only planning on making 50 lbs. so this would have been more than enough casings for the job. When I opened the packages, I noticed that the casing was very firm even for being packed in salt which is the usual way to pack them. The casings had a darker than normal tint to them which is what old or out of date casing appear. I looked on the packages and didn't see a "use by date" so I am not sure how old they actually were. While running water through each casing, I saw many rips and perforations in the casings and while most of them were around 3 feet in length, there were many shorter ones including one that was about 6 inches in length. Thats no problem either but it just makes more work to an already labor-intensive process. I probably threw away one-third of the casing due to these problems. Luckily, I found old casing remnants from previous years in my freezer which worked just fine considering their age so that makes me wonder even more how old these casings were. After soaking them for an hour, I found it difficult to put them on the stuffing tube. I had to use my smallest tube to get the casing on it. These were supposed to be 32mm -35mm casings but would not fit the correct sized tube. I was able to complete the job but much longer than I usually take for the same amount of sausage. All in all, I would not recommend these casings. These were substandard either because of their age or some other unknown factor. While I thought they were a reasonable price, I guess it is another case of you get what you pay.
