Product Description HURRICANE tells the story of the Polish fliers who found themselves fighting for the freedom of their own country in foreign skies. Seen through the eyes of Jan Zumbach (Rheon), fighter ace and adventurer, it tells how the Poles, driven across Europe by the German war machine, finally made their last stand. Flying Hurricanes for the RAF over Britain, they became a key component in the legend of The Few . Up against the might of the Luftwaffe they hoped that, by saving Great Britain from Nazi invasion, they were keeping the dream of a free Poland alive. In the lethal melee above England in that summer of 1940, they fought with a tenacity and skill that earned them the admiration of the whole British nation. The dogfights against superior planes cost some of the men their lives. The constant strain of gladiatorial combat took away the sanity of others. But, as Zumbach discovers as the war stutters to a close, becoming the best in the RAF is a hollow victory for the Poles. This powerful and gripping WWII RAF story is directed by David Blair (The Messenger, Away, Accused) and includes an impressive ensemble cast including Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Marvel s Inhumans), Milo Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge), Stefanie Martini (Crooked House, Prime Suspect 1973), Krystof Hadek (Under the Skin, Dark Blue World) and Marcin Dorocinski (Pitbull Anthropoid). Better than expected
I bought this out of curiosity because of the poor ratings I was born in the fifties and World War 2 pilots have always been my heroes. People say that the cgi is rubbish well I've seen worse a lot worse. Maybe the story isn't 100% factual who cares the credits say BASED on a true story. Glad I bought it.

Exiled aces
I was aware of the contribution of the Polish (and other exiles) pilots to the RAF during the Battle of Britain but less so on the detail and personalities. This film takes us beyond the “Repeat Please” scene from “Battle of Britain” and gives us a screen full of flying Poles; it focuses on say 3-5 of them but even the minor faces in the squadron are missed as the losses take their toll. It’s well acted, a Polish colleague was impressed by Iwan Rheon’s accent. The flying CGI doesn’t match the stuff from “Battle of Britain” but so what, it has Poles and Hurricane fighters - both key factors in the RAFs victory. It doesn’t leave the WAAF out either and they too are acted convincingly.303 squadron deserve to be remembered, this film reminds us that they fought for our freedom and theirs and that in many ways we let them down and badly

Poles Apart From Being Appreciated For Their Selfless Sacrifices
Undeservedly made on a minuscule budget this Battle Of Britain movie nonetheless captured the bravery of the Polish pilots of 303 Squadron RAF in 1940. It deserves a wider audience if only to show how the British Government has an unfortunate history of turning against those either domestic or foreign who help them in a moment of extreme peril. The acting is uniformly good and the special effects more than acceptable. A chapter in history that should inspire people to look further into how much of a great contribution the Polish made to the British war effort in World War Two. Highly recommended viewing !

True story about real heroes
I was very happy somebody made a movie about heroes from 303 squadron. Those Polish pilots made a huge contribution to defend Britain from Germans and later after the war they were thrown out of the country as unwelcome by British society and the government. Unfortunately due to low budget movie has rather outdated special effects so no Hollywood production. Based on the book 303 squadron. Movie definitely worth to watch even just to pay the respect.

at least the story is being told
There's a lot to say about how the Poles fought with with us - on land, sea and air - against Germany. This film tells some of that story, but I kept thinking how it could have been done better. In the end, the wish to avoid upsetting Stalin excludes these pilots - and the Anders Army, etc., etc. - from acknowledgement in the victory celebrations ... but Stalin didn't put the "No Poles" signs on the doors of rental properties after the war ... or the nasty stickers on cars in the BREXIT campaign. There's another film in there somewhere, but it needs a bigger budget than Hurricane had!

It's OK.
I like the fact this film even exist. As a historical fact and contribution to the cinematography.I think however, BBC documentary 'Untold Story of II War' was more accurate. I was looking forward to the scenes when King visited the squadron himself. Or how they skipped the part that over a year Polish Pilots were practising flying in formation on a bikes ;) Or the scene of Canadian Leader... most of we know about 303 is from his journal and he wrote a lot about them including that on the one of the first training flight they simply saved his life getting into dogfight by surprise.Granted, it's the movie based on that story so maybe my expectations were too high. But with questionable accuracy I would stop looking at this as a documentation of the events.Lead actor did a great job to learn Polish but it can be picked up by native speaker quite easily and somehow feels odd.Special effects, well maybe not a Hollywood grade but good enough. I suppose if Polish cinematography would take the production it could be even worst ;)In overall, nice story decent actors, mediocre documentary and special effects, still worth a shot if you looking for something fresh to watch.

Troiblesome times
A film of such heroism, that it was praised by Churchill himself. Not all heroes were British but came from all over the world, some from Poland, the origin of the conflict with Adolf Hitler's Germany. Those poles fought in the skies over the south of England in 1940. The fought all through the war. In the days of spring 1945 they were then ordered to go back to communist Poland to face Stalin's terror. Many were condemned to death though their only crime was fighting the nazis during WW2. The cold war already started in 1945. A wall had divided Europe from Stettin to the Adriatic, which lasted until the Sovjet union fell almost 50 years later.

Fascinating story - movingly told
I'm not really sure why this is called "Hurricane", which implies it is focused around the plane itself, as it is actually a fascinating tale of the Polish pilots who served in the RAF during World War 2. It offers a very interesting insight into the prejudices - and dangers - that they faced. And the real contribution they made to defeating the Luftwaffe. But the "people" stories that run in parallel are really quite moving and well acted. The depiction of the WAAF members operating the radar is also exemplary - highlighting the realities of life in wartime. Some reviews have criticised the CGI, but personally I thought the aerial scenes were well done - yes there is a slight "fakeness" about it, but the action is well depicted and you soon forget about it. So, all in all, it was a really enjoyable film.
