Orbit56648 Hose Repair Mender, Gray

I have installed about 4 of these hose ends now ( both male & female ) and they are working great, no leaks. The trick to install them is to use some light grease on the hose bib then wack the hell out of it with a dead blow hammer (female hose end ), I also used a 1 1/16 socket for the male end and my cordless driver to get it to go all the way on the hose. I then use my cordless driver to tighten the screws all the way down. Once secure the hose does not leak.

My hose was leaking like a sieve, from where the metal meets the rubber (not the gasket). I went to Amazon to purchase a new hose, like the last time this happened, then at the bottom of the page, this appears. The one time I'm glad Amazon tried to sell me something else. So, I cancelled the hose and purchased this and this was so easy to put on, it was ridiculous.

I have used these in the past with pretty good results. However, this time I had a quite stiff hose to repair and it couldn't quite clamp hard enough to really bite. If you need one of these I hope you have a normal thinner walled hose. It works well on those.

The end of the hose that connected my hose reel to the water faucet was plastic and leaking. I cut the bad end off and installed this part. Works great, no leaks and was very easy to put together. Note.... take a measurement of your hose diameter to be able to order the right size.

Name Brand Orbitz at top price chose to use cheap un-coated / non-stainless screws which bind in the clamp BEFORE you take the screws out - the screw heads "strip" when you try to remove the screws to open the clamp to install the new hose end. A cheaper alternative from Amazon uses better screws and works perfectly. If you succeed in getting the screws out of the clamp you will need to buy new screws to get the clamp assembled onto the hose end. Don't buy trouble - buy a better kit.

These are awesome to have on hand and help save your hose when you have a split or pinhole leak.

Noticed high temperatures softens the hose, which loosens the fixture, causing it to pop-out. Had to rap tape then fit the fixture around it to increase fitting.
