There are many "Jack Daniels" types out there (some of them extracts, some of them "waka"), and, while it may take less to feel their effects, ours comes on warmer, overtake the body more, promote more restful sleep, and a more sunny and uplifting mood. The natives traditionally grind Fu'u as fine as possible, and we do the same. There are two main reasons: -- Traditional drinks are meant to be served with "pulp" in them -- a little bit of grit can be swooshed in the mouth and tickles the tongue and throat on the way down -- it's like pulp in orange juice. This cut allows for the finest "pulp" to slip past the strainer and into the drink. Yum! -- If you're without s strainer or pressed for time, you're in luck. By happenstance, with this cut, you can mix the kava directly in water, and gulp back without straining. This is great if you're on the move. Our kava is always fresh. Better than RX
You know, I was skeptical at first about the whole kava thing. I did my research and decided to give it a try. I have been having terrible anxiety for the past two weeks. I was prescribed xanax and afraid I was going to run out when another anxiety attack hit. I can already say this is MUCH better. I thought all the reviews on here were fake from the company that sells this stuff, but it actually does work. It might even be more powerful than the .5mg xanax doses I was taking. I feel a little loopy, very social, calm and collected. It really tastes pretty disgusting, but it was totally worth it.Here's the recipe I used:1/4 cup of kava1 cup Almond milk (I guess some kind of fatty liquid is necessary to extract all the good things)2 1/2 cups waterAll of this has to be cold liquid. Apparently all the kavalactone is not effective anymore after 140 Fahrenheit.I added all of this to a mason jar and shook it up, let it sit for 20 minutes and then shoot it up again. I took a piece of cheese cloth and screwed it ontop of the mason jar where the removable lid goes to strain all the liquid out and minimize pulp.Be sure to stir in between sips to even it out. You can feel your tounge getting numb instantly, and the psychological and physical effects take about 20 min.Enjoy! you will not regret this purchase if you have terrible anxiety like myself.

The best Kava on Amazon.
This is the best Kava I've tried. Very fine grind. Great smell/taste. Very fresh. The effect comes on nice and smooth. I've tried the other "Waka" Kava on Amazon and I have to say that Premium Tongan Fu'u, Milk of the Pacific is my new go-to choice. It tastes fine straight, but I also like to add 2 Tbsp of Kava to 1 Cup water, throw that in the blender for 2 minutes. Run it through a strainer bag, extracting all of the liquid. Rinse out the blender and add the strained Kava back into the blender. Now add 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder and a splash of orange juice. It tastes a bit like an Orange Julius.

A nice cup of Kava!
This is a very nice, smooth Kava. It's very finely ground and has a delightful aroma. I use a cheesecloth for a strainer with about a tablespoon and half of Kava with a cup of water. It gives a nice mellow glow - I enjoy a glass of it before I go to work in the morning.

Not Impressed
I was honestly not that impressed with this Kava. Maybe it was a bad batch, who knows? I experienced little to no affect. I purchased a competitor's 1/2 lb bag and found it better. I would be willing to give it another shot down the road.

Good purchase
I'm currently enjoying this batch of Kava. I found that it can be used without a strainer. I would recommend this brand to others.

Best I've found
The only Kava more potent than this are the strong extracts (40%+). The key with this Kava is in the preparation. I've tested many different ways and the following brings out the most potency. Use a blender, add two tablespoons Tongan Fu'u, add 4 oz super hot water, add 1 teaspoon lemon juice (I think the citric acid brings out more of the kavalactones but I'm no expert). Blend for 2 minutes. Then strain with either a straining cloth or any normal lose tea strainer (the latter leaves more pulp and thus more potency). Add honey/thyme to taste.Using the above prep method brings out the strongest effects. Speaking of, the effects of this are very similar to Kratom and much more potent than Valerian Root. It does not have the full body effects of Kratom. It is more of a muscle relaxant / sedative. I use this to relieve stress after a long day at work and it works wonders. I also have occasional Fibromyalgia type pain although I've never been formally diagnosed. This Kava controls those pains perfectly without the need for additional pain relievers.FYI, the taste is interesting...if you have a gag reflex you may not be able to take this. It numbs your mouth as you drink it which enhances the not so great taste. I just add a bunch of honey and thyme to cover it up. I've also tried adding it to a milk/frozen fruit blended beverage and the taste is almost completely covered up. it is best to consume this on an empty stomach if you are looking for potency.Others have mentioned taking this with Valerian or Gaba. They do nothing. This Kava is far more potent than those two and thus you would be wasting your money consuming them in tandem.Will most definitely buy from this company again. Great product!

I quite like it plain
This is very smooth kava, and has nothing of the harsh bite some others do....I quite like it plain. I use 2 tablespoons in about 8 oz water. Perfect mellow, calm feeling. Try this one first.

Great quality and strength
Great quality, very fine grind. Leaves a nice relaxed feeling. People aren't joking when they say the taste is different, but with proper preparation, you can remedy that and enjoy a nice, strong, kava beverage.
