101 Famous Poems

I was delighted to find out that this poetry book was still available. I could not find my inherited copy and this has always been my favorite poetry book. Ordered extras for gifts.

I am a writer and a reader of poetry. I have read a number of poetry books. However, this book is one of the finest, if not the very finest, compilation of great poetry that I have been blessed to purchase, own, and read. A point that is worthy of noting is the fact that this book offers the reader a photo (when available) of the Poet and person who penned the lines which they are about to read. I am proud to have purchased this book of poetry and plan on purchasing more copies to give as gifts to friends and those whom I do feel will benefit from this grand and illustrious compilation of the finest poetry I have ever set my eyes and my heart upon ...Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn

This book has been a favorite in my family for generations. In 1940 my mom was 16. She worked in a library and never returned it. The cover came off and the pages were falling apart. My parents would read these to me and my three siblings. While they read them we could usually recite them. Some we knew by heart. My sister and I read them to our children. When we would visit my brother he would read them to his nieces and nephews. My daughter would read them to her children. I read them to my grandson who lives with me. I had to retire my last one because it was worn out. I bought the hardback and a paperback. I read it at least 3 times a week.

Love the choice of poetry contained within, could have done without the religious text contained within. Not really sure what the 10 commandments have to do with poetry but what do I know....

Bought as a Christening gift for my grandson. I read poems on Christmas Eve and each of my grandchildren read along to 'A visit From St. Nicholas'' Good to see that it is still available - it's an updated version of the one I grew up with my father reading to us, and they all know that and makes it special! The book itself is in excellent shape, with a couple of pages dog-eared - hopefully to mark somebody's favorite! Can't beat the price!

I am just getting into poetry and wanted to understand more of the classics. I really enjoyed this book and felt a stronger appreciation of history told through these poets of yesterday.

A great little book. I love the small size and the pictures of all the authors!
