Frisk 40080011 Standard Deluxe Palette Box, Nylon/A, One Size

I bought this to replace my Masterson palette, as I was having problems getting the lid to fit securely (warped), plus it didn't fit inside my trolley bag when going off to painting group.I'm definitely pleased with this Frisk palette box, it fits my bag, the lid fits securely to keep my acrylic fresh for 2-3 weeks, and it has a good depth so I can still keep the mini pots of acrylic inside which I've fixed in place with sticky velcro. The lid has come in useful too as an extra mixing surface.

There was a hole in the side of the box but no hole in the packaging. So it must have been packaged faulty? However, I superglued the nylon bits back together because oo the time of year Christmas... and it would be a hassle over the festival to return etc.

I use the Frisk palette for keeping my oil paints moist. In conjunction with this I have been using a "tear off" palette pad for placing paints from tubes and mixing paint. At the end of each session I place the "tear off" palette pad in the Frisk palette which is sufficiently airtight to keep the paint, mixed and unmixed, wet enough to continue painting later. This enables me to do a bit of painting and return to it later, perhaps on a later date without having to clean my conventional palette. I place a piece of cottonwool, soaked in clove oil, in the Frisk palette, which seems to help keep the paints moist. I can keep the paints moist for at least a week. I'm extremely pleased with the Frisk palette. If I had any reservation it would be for the sturdiness of the four clips holding on the lid, so I handle them carefully. Otherwise it would be a 5 star review. I haven't used it for plein air work.

Works perfectly, keeps my acrylics from drying out. What a good find.

Does exactly what I need. It will take my A4 glass pallet nicely with about 1cm spare all round. Keeps oil paint wet for days 🎨

Not one for writing reviews but impressed with this palette. I found no need for membrane papers and put my acrylics directly onto the plastic base. Where as other stay wet palettes leave acrylics thin and melting, this keeps them just right. Although Mont a problem I was wary of the outer clips which appeared flimsy but okay so far. Very happy.

The palette box arrived promptly. With its clip on lid it is ideal for keeping unused paints and storing these safely in the fridge until required again.

I needed something to store my 24 Rosa gouache 20ml containers. They fit perfectly, occupying approximately halv of the pallbox, leaving plenty of space for brushes and other stuff. So as a storage container, it is indeed a good tipeware-like box. Although probably quite large to take it with you anywhere else but to your studio ...and, of course, it is quite pricey too!Maybe a true tipeware could do the job for you at much lower price? 🤔

What separates this palette box from others I’ve purchased (more below) is that this SAA box has a gasket seal on the lid. Plus, the four hinge latches are very easy to open and close to provide a tight seal. It’s a perfect size for my 9”x12” disposable palette pad. It’s worth noting that it will take at least a couple of weeks to receive the item via Royal Mail but it is well worth the wait. To address my note above, I’ve purchased two Masterson palette boxes from Amazon before discovering this SAA box, one blue which didn’t provide an airtight seal and a red one, which provided a slightly better seal, but not nearly as good as this SAA box. As I noted in my review, this SAA box is a breeze to open and to close with four hinges that provide a tight seal while both of my Masterson boxes are difficult to open and close as they rely on ridges between the lid and base to snap on to. Hands down winner in my Studio is the SAA palette box. Definitely worth the wait on shipping.
