Anyone looking to make square holes in wood will not be disappointed with this tool. I have used many tools, and if your are trying to make large and deep mortises with common bench chisels, or even mortising chisels, this will be the light at the end of the tunnel. I have used "antique" framing corner chisels that were supposed to be excellent, but this one takes the cake. So far I have knocked out sixteen up to 9 inch deep mortises in Ash and Southern Yellow Pine with less effort than I would have ever imagined. However, be forewarned, cutting large mortises is a difficult and labor intense task even with a great tool, it just makes it less time consuming, keeps the corners true and saves you quite a few swings with a mallet. This has become one of my favorite non-motorized tool.

This beautiful beast takes out the trash when you need it to. There’s no fighting with those stubborn last pieces of wood that refuse to let go when you’re using a small undersized chisel. This bad boy will do the job in a hurry. I am so glad I add this corner chisel to my arsenal of large chisels.

Generally a good chisel, but arrived with the inside corner disappointingly rough and uneven. I was able to file, grind, and sharpen to a good state, but I am disappointed that I had to do so much finishing work on it out of the box.

Chisel is excellent, packaging should be two starts. Comes in a cheap plastic sleeve, which this chisel cut through on shipping, and the blade took a big nick in the corner of the chisel. A cheap plastic guard could have prevent this. Took me quite a bit of time to take out the nick and resharpen. Overall I very much like the Sorby framing and register chisels. Great quality, keeps a sharp edge, and tool should last my lifetime.

I am a truck driver and recently passed through the house and observed my order, a corner was broken off, I didn't take a picture since I don't take my phone to the shop with me as a protection from breakage. The rest of the order and additional orders all seem to be fine.

This is a good, heavy duty framing chisel. Well worth the money.

Very nice weight and durable squared mortises in red oak 1"x6" by 4in deep very nicely keep it honed and it performs perfectly! Realy hefty thick tool steel as expected for timber framing
