If variety is the spice of life, then listening to American radio during the early part of the 1960s was certainly a spicy experience! Legend has it that the period covered by these 3CDs was a low point in pop, roughly bordered by Elvis enlisting in the Army in 1958, and the American breakthrough of The Beatles in 1964. But even the briefest look at these titles - or the quickest of listens, will disprove that legend. Here is a delicious menu of dance sensations, virtuoso instrumentals, novelty hits, heart-breaking ballads together with some of the perkiest pop you could wish for.

Back Then
Just did a fairly quick tally of my ORIGINAL American label singles that I have collected over the years, purchasing many of them when they were initially released back then. While I still maintain and love my vinyl collection, I'm beginning to feel that CDs are now the better way to go.I'm sure I have spent at least five years of my life changing singles on various record players so I could listen to my chosen sides. At 72 years of age, I still do it EVERYDAY, but I get a bit frustrated and my music room looks like it went through the blitz. Now, in goes a CD and the press of a button, and I can hear what I want virtually instantly, including those tracks that I paid a lot of money for on vinyl. Back then, a new single selling retail would be in the range from 69 cents to a buck.Wallachs Music City in Hollywood sure loved people like me....Back then....

Music is fine all good hits
Music is fine all great hits. When I attempted to down load to my iTunes Library there was no data embedded on the CD's such as song title and Artist. So I did not load them. A week later i went in to manually input this. To my surprise 2 out of the 3 discs now have the information so I assume this information comes from a database and not the CD. i'm a bit confused but Happier. So this is an upgrade from 2 to 4 stars. There is so much old music of the 50s and 60s being put on compilation Cds the Winners are the fans and so affordable. Keep em coming.

Great hits from the 60s
Many of the big hits of the early 60s are on this set of CDs, many of which were not in my previous collections CDs. There are other artists that weren't included on this set, but I can wait, they'll turn up on other 60s collection CDs.
