NHL 19 - Xbox One

I grabbed this because it was cheap, and I’m not that much into hockey that I would buy the newest NHL game. Anyhow, I think it’s a great game, it plays really smooth and realistic. I like the “be a pro” part of the game also. One other thing I can say, is compared to the last NHL game I had (NHL 17) the controls are better. I’m having a difficult time picking up the dekes and all that, but once I do this game is going to be in my Xbox non-stop. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with this game, especially a year after it’s been out and being able to pick it up for a good price. Definitely think it’s worth the $11 I paid.

So this is better than nhl 17 and 18. Better in ways that other games call a patch or update, not a $60 full release for an updated roster. It's the same EA bs we get with all their sports. I skipped 18 and after seeing 19 and once again the EA hype train I would have never bought this if Zetterberg would not have retired this off season. This game is the same game you can get in 17. They give you a list of changes..... you have a defensive skill stick that is mostly useless to you but super useful for the AI and some new dekes that will take a while to learn and longer to find a place to use them in game, you will use the same dekes. The kick deke is nice... once again it is an update. Oh and like every EA game be prepared to play your best only to watch the other team put in every shot they try and lose. False difficulty level is real here as in every game. I gave it a 3 because I'm still playing it but honestly only because I bought it would have been just as frustrating playing 17. Dont buy it. Dont make my mistake make EA finally make a really new sports game stop giving them money every year for a 10 dollar update.

First off, it looks STUNNING. Easily the best looking hockey game to day, with exception of how very few of the players look like their real life counterparts, but we'll give that one a pass because they probably can't dedicate a bunch of time to laser-scan each player's face for a video game. The AI is still bad (at least if you're a real hockey player it is). If you are good enough to play smothering defense, the game will try to make up for it by continually putting you in the box, or by scoring from anywhere on the ice on the rare chances that they do get into your zone. Playing a Season in this game will really point out its shortcomings if you're a decent player.Having said that, there's a section of the game you can play called Pro Am under the CHEL option. These are really fun 3 vs 3 challenges that have some historical players in them. It's fun. I'm willing to bet that this game is more reasonable if you are playing against a friend and not the AI as well. I haven't played online yet, not sure if I will. Great looking/sounding game, just disappointed that the AI never really pans out.

Great game, very fun and looks amazing. I'm not even a hockey fan nor do I know any thing about the sport but I really enjoy this game. Has different difficulty levels so any one can play and be successful. Paid $11 and change for a brand new copy and it's a great addition to my xbox one x library.

Exactly what I was looking forward too. Has the same song plaid over and over again during the season that the Capitals won the cup . The game plays great . Only thing that is just odd is that the jerseys kinda float like capes at the bottom . Game is fantastic though. Got a great price over the 2020 version.

NHL 19 seems to be really fun to play. I still think 17 and 18 were very good too. The sound hasdefinitely improved. The skating is more fluid. I'm not really thrilled about the menu and the wayit's laid out. But overall I think they did a good job with 19. Has a lot of options for sure. You won'tget bored that's for sure. I give it an 8 out of 10.

I love the skating and stick handling graphics. It’s a really fun game and the advancement in the NHL games always seems to amaze me. Fun game to buy and play with the family. A few years old but still a cool game

I am not gonna lie, its a great game. But if you dont play online I would just stick with nhl18. No big difference but if you get this it takes some getting used to because the way they move on the ice is starting to be exactly like real life.

If you are someone who enjoys playing the NHL games for their offline single player, and couch co-op/versus fun, and are never one to play online, then DO NOT bother with this game, because apparently you don't matter. The graphics are slightly better, but the physics, handling etc. has just barely been updated or changed. And the only fun you can have offline is still just NHL Threes. Might as well just keep NHL 18. All the new modes in the world of CHEL where you get to create players with normal clothes, and play on ponds with fun modes like 1v1v1 are only online. This makes all that fun useless to those who cannot afford to pay for GOLD on Xbox One, and who just want to have fun with friends on couch co-op. Apparently EA could not be bothered to please its offline player base. Thanks for nothing EA. Don't buy this game if you don't play online.

The EA Sports NHL series are always a fun game to play. But this version is merely an update of NHL 18.They really need to get rid of the commentators or at least update their speech...it’s been the same for a few years now. Bring back Jim Hughson!
