Knightsbridge WALL3L Lightweight Adjustable Wall Light, Stainless Steel

I live just 400 meters from north facing seawall,northen Scotland, and hence get sea spray on windy days, 103.3 mph recorded in the garden November 2014 and lamp fittings just don't last, even stainless steel,but this fitting looks like it may survive better, the seals look good and the wiring within has sealant to protect the wire bends in the elbow joint for adjustment. To really make this fitting perfectly watertight sealant around the base meeting with the wall would be a finishing touch although not necessary. Best build quality I have come across we will see, all other fittings I have used have only last two years and were twice the price of this one...

Good Quality, the threads are a little stiff and/or badly cut but this does not show. The tiny plastic washers compress too much when the nuts are tightened up snd squeeze out thus compromising the seal. Otherwise well made.

I purchased one about a year ago to evaluate prior to installing a total of six on the perimeter of my home and out buildings. I run them with 6W LED GU10 bulbs on a twilight switch.The installation is not near the coast, however they do not show any signs of deterioration. I have today just ordered another one for use at a different location.It's clearly a good product at a realistic price.

Very fiddly to fit. Bought to replace an existing older model WALL3L which had developed a bad leak leaving the bulb immersed in water after wet weather. The original fitting had a stainless steel plate screwed to the wall with the base housing attached via three grub screws. Fitting the base of the lamp housing to the wall plate was trivial. This version has a rubber/plastic plate screwed to the wall and seems a cheaper construction. How long this plastic base plate will survive outdoor conditions - will it become brittle etc remains to be seen. This base housing is screwed to the wall plate via two bolts fed through from behind the plastic wall plate and attached with two dome headed nuts. A silicone washer is placed under each nut. The dome heads look nice but it make the nuts slippery to hold and also the internal thread starts slightly inside the bore. The protruding thread for attachment is only about 5mm and this also needs the silicone washer placed on the thread before threading the nut. Bearing in mind you will very likely be installing this up a ladder it is very easy to drop (and lose!) either the washer, nut, or both. And if the thread does not "catch" first time, it is easy to inadvertently push the bolt back into the soft rear plastic plate, so use some needle pliers to pull it proud again. It is also quite fiddly to get the power lead through the base plate grommet without the grommet coming away from the plate. Generally speaking the mains tails will be stiff and short so you can expect some fun trying to get this done properly.Hard to tell at this stage if this unit will be more waterproof than the previous fitting. The fitting is one of four and the other three units have not leaked since they were installed about 8 years ago. Nice lights when they are working properly.

I'm very happy with this light. A solid construction. They haven't been on the wall long so I can't say if they are going to rust quickly but from what I've read from other reviews they seem robust. The best thing for me is that you can point them in any direction which I will use and they also take LED bulbs so easy on the electricity. All in all a good light.

Good quality and value for money.

Good quality for the money, mine are set up with LED GU10 bulbs and work very well. Corrosion is not a problem as I live 30 miles from the sea!

The item arrived before the stated time, it appears to be good quality although it's only just been installed. As it's adjustable it allows the part of the garden that we want illuminated instead of just the wall, without blinding the neighbours.
