4 stars for price vs function
Took a little bit of adjusting to make it fit in my Ford Escape, I added two suction cup hooks to the rear windows since I don’t have rear coat hangers. I keeps my rods up so I can back gear or friends into the back seat. It will only fit about 4 rods comfortably, without banging into your head, at least in my Escape. It’s about 1/8th of the price of the more sturdy versions, so for the price it is an excellent product. And does it’s job well. For reference I’ve had everything from two piece surf rods, steelhead rods, bass rods, and trout rods in it, but I have to take my reels off my surf rods or they will slide out.

Works very well with modifications.
I own a 2004 GMC Yukon and have always struggled with where to put my fishing poles for transport to the lake. This product does not work out of the box for my vehicle. I drilled a small hole in the rear clothes hanger to attach clip with small bolts. I then attached the front clips to clothes hanger by passenger seats with zip ties. Attached both straps and you are good to go. It helped to attach the front strap with rod loops on top. They didn't hang down as low this way. Also make sure to pull the straps as tight as you can. I am very happy with the product due to the functionality. If you aren't willing to think outside of the box, then this might not be for you.

Perfect for a Toyota FJ Cruiser
I did a bunch of research but couldnt find anyone stating that there was any brand that would work on storing your fishing poles to the inside interior roof of an FJ Cruiser. But, after looking at a bunch of different brands & photos I decided to give the Rod Saver my 1st try & bingo...I made a great choice. With just a couple of modifications this worked perfect. I just had to take the screws out of the rear hangers & using a by using a 1/4 bit I was able to enlarge the holes in the metal hangers to accommodate the original screw, I also took the straps out of the metal hooks & reversed them so that I get a little more height & now I can still use the hangers. On the front strap, I just took the metal brackets off entirely & tied the straps to the handles. I was able to tighten everything pretty tight & there is barely any sag with rods in the straps. I will leave the straps in permanently because they are not in my way. I'm only 5'5" but even with a hat on, my head still doesn't touch the straps. Now it's easy to trasport my poles. They are never in the way & I dont have to worry about breaking them. Worth every penny!

and this is perfect. I had to choose between mounting them 3 ...
I have a pickup with an 8ft bed and camper shell, and this is perfect. I had to choose between mounting them 3 1/2ft apart or 5ft apart and went with 3 1/2 so that my 10.5 and 9 ft salmon rods would fit when split in 1/2. I used zip ties as seen in the pictures so I don’t have to drill. The straps easily clip on and off so that I don’t have to have them installed 24/7. I tested it with a 10.5ft salmon rod, 7ft ocean rod and a 6 1/2ft trout rod.... they all fit in there nicely. The usefulness of this will also depend on the vehicle your installing them on... in my case with an 8ft truck bed I don’t need to worry about them touching my head and they can fit rods up to abou 7 1/2ft without touching the front or rear. Velcro straps straps were plenty long enough for even the larger ocean boat rod and cinched up small enough for my trout rods. This is way better than any custom PVC pipe solution I would have done on my own... and only $20!

Fits '12 Expedition but only holds 6 rods
Just got this and it does not hold 7 rods as advertised, it holds 6 rods. There are not 7 slots to put your rods in on the rear part with the velcro straps. There are however 7 slots on the strap that sits towards the front of the vehicle which I found odd. I think it's fair for the price but i would not pay anymore for it. It seems like if you do not tighten it so it's close to the headliner of your interior ,then the rods will move around. I have not driven with it yet but i did install it and put a few rods in. I wish I could give it 3.5 stars so I will go with 3 since it doesn't hold 7 rods.

Perfect for truck cap
This item worked perfectly in my Leer truck cap. To mount, I unscrewed a window screw from each side and mounted. I originally ordered a different brand, but it wasn’t big enough for the cap. This one fits with lots of room to adjust for various widths!

Good product.
Works as designed. You might need to purchase suction cups if you vehicle does not have rear coat hangers. I suggest getting 2.5 inch suction cup clips. These worked for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FGWVE0Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Simple fix
I'd been trying to find a way to transport my fishing gear without damaging it in my Jeep when I happened across the rod saver. All it took was a few zip ties around the roll bar. I couldn't be happier! Great yet simple product.
