Lovely creepy stories...
The book itself is a fascinating collection of Vampire lore and stories set off by black and white photographs (taken by the author) of locations associated with the stories. This is a big book that won't fit through the letter box with lots of lovely full page photographs. The contents of the book were brilliant, but I wasn't happy with the "new" copy I paid for. The paper cover has numerous scratches as if someone has dragged or swirled it several times over a concrete floor and it had obviously already been read as the spine was broken. The first time I opened the book at random pages they all lay flat...which doesn't happen in a brand new book. Not happy about that. Next time I'll just buy second hand.

Beautiful
I love Vampires and love the history behind them. I came across this book in bizzare magazine, and loved the detail of the pictures they showed. I went straight out and brought this on here.I couldn't wait to read this when I got it. The pictures are stunning and the history is amazing. I have only got half way through and I'm already smitten. This is a must buy for all Vampire or Photography fans!

Wonderful photography
I've long been a fan of (sadly now the late) Simon Marsden's atmospheric & spooky infrared photography and have several of his books. Apart from the photography anyone interested in this kind of subject should find it a good read. Highly recommended.

Stock has been stored very poorly.
Excellent book but somewhat battered around the edges. Numerous gouges and scuffs in the dust jacket some onto the actual cover.

A rare treasure-rich and elegant and mesmerizing!
I received my book in the mail today! This is the most beautiful book I have ever seen! It's breathtaking! Every page is filled with stunning images to stir the spirit and imagination. The photos are so vivid and mesmerizing. You can tell the author invested a lot of time and energy in this masterpiece. It's filled with ancient art and treasures of long ago combined with historical fact and spooky legends to entice the senses and transport us to a different time. It's a collectors item. My book is proudly displayed on my coffee table. No wonder this persons art hangs in the Getty Museum. It would be a great book for any school library. The pages are thick and the quality is excellent. This would be a special book for anyone. You don't have to like vampires to appreciate the magic and splendor of The Twilight World. I feel like I can take many journeys through the pages of this awesome book! There are more pages than I imagined. I would expect to pay $40.00-$50.00 for a book this size. It's a rare find. This would make an awesome gift for Halloween and any holiday!~ Sherry Bretz

Vampires: The Twilight World
Over recent years the traditional portrayal of the Vampire as a creature of the night constantly seeking to satisfy it's bloodlust has been substituted with a moral, almost compassionate creature able to surmount it's ancient darkest characteristics. In our world of constant scientific and technological advances maybe it is comforting to reinvent this darkest of creatures? This allows us to dismiss the sinister qualities of the Vampire that could exist in us all as we seek the Fountain of Youth whether by scalpel or by subjecting lesser creatures to a life of pain as we seek to reverse life's plan by smearing expensive creams and ointments over ageing skin, when blood could be the answer. In his latest work the renowned photographer and writer on the supernatural, Sir Simon Marsden, invites us to return to the stories and locations of the Vampires and their persecutors. From the traditional heartland of Vampirism in central Europe to these very Isles and beyond, Sir Simon Marsden has visited, chronicled and photographed in his unique style, to produce an outstanding work.So as the nights draw in, shut the curtains, turn off your mobiles, unplug your phones, pour yourselves a glass of good red wine and allow this book to fire your imagination and take you into the Twilight World of the Vampire. Travel in the company of Bram Stoker, Sheridan Le Fanu, Edgar Allen Poe and the historical figures of Vlad Tepes, Elizabeth Bathory, Christian von Kahlbutz and De Sade. The reader will of course draw their own conclusion. For myself this book confirms that out there exist creatures that even modern science cannot explain as I have witnessed what Sir Simon Marsden would call a " psychic vampire ", unable to accept her death feed on the energy of a young television journalist visiting my former home.Brian Bartle Jenkins
