Your tears don't fall, (at least) they don't crash around the kitchen anymore!
Yes, here is a wonderful product which finally ends the long lasting relationship of tear jerks and onions in the kitchen! Please don't think I am exaggerating! No,it's nothing but the truth!.Prestige Vegetable Cutter, a small and handy contraption which consists of just three parts, a small vessel, a removable blade assembly and a lid with a pull string to operate the cutting mechanism is very effective in what it promises to do in the kitchen.Just six pulls are all it takes to cut two medium sized onions already cleaned and cut into quarter pieces to an almost uniform size pieces suitable for any recipes or salads. There is more to it! It doesn't cut just onions. It is a versatile cutter which could cut almost any vegetables and even cooked meat if you are a non-vegetarian.Now, the limitations of the product. Yes it's a wonderful product but has it's own limitation too!1. The weakest link in the contraption is the pull string. I think that the pull string might be susceptible to damage in the long term or if you overload the contraption in the very short term. And this will end it's useful life and may simply turn it to a kitchen storage unit with a glorified past! Hence be careful with it's operation and especially with the first pulls when contents like carrots may lead to locking of the blade mechanism. In such situations, you can simply ease the pull string and retry or open the lid and remove the stuck pieces from the blades and start anew the cutting in a safe way. Yes the bottom line is simple. Don't use excessive force on the pull string.2. The capacity of the cutter is somewhat very limited, especially in the context of big Indian families. You can fill only half the container or to the level of second blade from the bottom for the safe usage of the product.3. Since the lid contains the moving mechanical parts and the spring loaded string which are susceptible to water damage, you are not supposed wash it either. Yes, you can clean it by wet clothes. In the rare case of water entry in to the lid, the user is expected to open just the small designated part on the bottom of the lid which could be opened only by using suitable coins and dry it off completely before using again the cutter. In any case, the user is not expected to open the screws on the bottom of the lid which holds the mechanism.4. Please be careful with the blade mechanism both from the points of view of personal safety in the kitchen and of the long term preservation of the sharpness. Yes, the blades are very sharp when new and the effectiveness of the cutter may depend on keeping it just as sharp as new.5. The cutter appears to be a bit pricey, at least in the Indian context, considering that it is a simple (but effective) mechanical contraption mostly made of plastic. This might be because of profit sharing or high royalties due to 'swizzprozz' who appears to bethe designer, IPR holder or/and the manufacturer of the Prestige branded product in India.Considering the usefulness of the product, I am rating maximum 5 out of 5 to this simple and innovative product.

Portable, timesaving and effective product from Prestige.
We first saw this vegetable cutter at one of my friend's place. We did not see it in action so were under the impression it wont be any better than many of the other manual cutters available in the market. However, after seeing the youtube videos of this cutter, I got a little confidence and bought one.Since the day it has arrived, this is one of the most used and most useful gadget in our kitchen. We have used it to cut onions, green chilli, garlic, cabbage & carrot so far. This vegetable cutter has helped reduce the preparation time by 80%.The appliance works on manual power. There are two extremely sharp blades. They are moved by pull of a cord.To give an example, fill the bowl with 2 medium sized onions (cut into 4 pieces each). Pull the cord for 8-10 times and you get coarsely chopped onions. Continue pulling for 10 more times, and you get very finely chopped onions. All the cut pieces look similar. They are uniformly and beautifully chopped. It is however important to note that1. You should not fill the bowl more than half.2. At times the vegetables (specially carrot) will arrange themselves in a way that it will get stuck. Dont pull the cord very hard. Just open the lid and rearrange.3. Do not wash the lid with lots of water. You should avoid letting the water enter into the storage compartment of the cord. It may not dry properly and may become breading ground for mold/bacteria. Just wipe the lid with wet towel. That should be enough to clean it.4. Immediately after use, wash the blades with running water. Do not leave it along with other utensils to be washed. This will help maintain the sharpness for long.Happy cutting!!

Amazing new help in the kitchen
Worth buying.Pros –1. No more tears while chopping Onions2. Basically this is best suited for mincing Onions, Tomato, Carrot, or any other vegetable3. Best for mincing veg / fruits for toddlers, making it easy for them to chew and safe for eating by reducing choking hazard4. I have tried – Onions, green chillies, red chillies [for poriyal], coriander, Mint leaves, Carrot and beans, Tomato, peas and bean varieties for my baby’s food.5. Tomatoes for Thokku/ pickles get done really well in this.6. No more cuts while trying to chop veg to small bits. Your safe with this.7. Once you get the hang of it, saves lot of time and effort. Especially thankful and happy to chop onions in this.Overall, it’s a great product for the Price. But usage it limited to mincing and when you don’t mind uneven mincing it’s really worth.Cons –1. Don’t expect all your work done with this. This is not a replacement to your chopping board and knife. You’ve to make at least one inch pieces to get this working2. Gets stuck if you fill it more than half3. Doesn’t chop the veg on top later to the same size as the veg on the lowest layer. Uneven mincing.4. Can’t use to chop veg for sambar, koottu where you need cubes/ chopped veg and not minced veg.5. You should not wash the lid with string. The working mechanism lies there and it could spoil the equipment. But feels not so good to not rinse the lid in water.Basically, the usage is limited but for the type of chopping you can with this machine, it’s amazing. Saves a lot of time and effort.
