Cursive creations for the crafty
My girls were lucky enough to learn cursive in 3rd grade because their teacher Mrs. Love (her real name!) believes in all the benefits that research shows learning cursive brings to developing brains - plus it's just fun! If your looking for another boring workbook for your child to practice their handwriting skills, then this book isn't for you. If you have kid who likes to experiment and create with words and art, then this colorful and fun book fits the bill! Personally, I think it would also make a great gift with a few of the supplied needed to make some of the projects. My 11 year old twins love it!

perfect guide for mom camp this summer!
This arrived just in time to become part of "writing week" in this summer's addition of "mom camp" at my house. With 7 and 9 year olds in attendance, this book provides projects for both ages and an even wider variety of skill sets. It is also so smartly organized with step by step guidance including photo documentation from beginning to end, my eldest will be thrilled to take on leading a project for our little group. Last but not least, I greatly appreciate the fact that each project can be done with household items which is both easy on our pocket books and to me the greatest of lessons to my kids - that art can be created anywhere. I'm now looking forward to school being out for summer!

fun with cursive
These are fun ideas for making + creating. My second grader has shown interest in writing in cursive, but he knows they won't get to it until third grade in school. Using glue guns and paint are great ways for him to try out the letters he likes. My fifth grader has been experimenting with projects like the stenciled pillow case and embroidery, and loves writing in her own style. The dot printed cards are next on our list. Thanks for the picture steps and tips in the pullout quotes.

One of my go-to gifts!
Rachelle Doorley has one of the most innovative and creative minds on the internet. Her Tinkerlab book has inspired our family for years. When I learned that she’d written a book promoting the art of handwriting, I knew we had to have it.Using a variety of fun and unexpected materials, Rachelle has assembled more than 20 projects that make cursive an exciting form of self-expression.One of my favorite gifts for the 8+ crowd is a copy of the book with all of the materials needed to complete one project (usually the quill-making one with a small ink jar). It’s been a great hit with kids and their parents!

Cursive as Art - for kids of all ages!
I love and follow Rachelle in all her artistic endeavors and was so pleased to see her take a stand to save cursive writing. Increasingly it is being left out of curriculum in schools as kids are handed laptops to take notes and do assignments. I love that she has lifted it up as an art form and given children a way to practice and ultimately enjoy the process of connecting letters together to form our thoughts and feelings. I love the book, and look forward to doing the projects together with my own kids!

Cursive as a craft! Yay!
Magnificent! Beautiful! Cursive! What a neat idea. The kids will never know they are learning! With gorgeous pictures and easy to follow activities, you and your child will be handwriting in no time. (I think.) My boys and I are starting with the throw pillow project. I’m assuming they are capable of learning cursive but neither can even read cursive!! I think this book will help ease them into it.

A fun book for creative kids!
This is a nice little book with great craft ideas for kids (or anyone, I suppose). I liked how it was geared towards children though. The activities are simple enough my 1st grader can do them but interesting enough my 3rd grader would be into them too. It's not a book about HOW to write in cursive, but rather about how to use cursive to make creative projects. Great for our upcoming summer vacation.

cute
I was hoping for more from this book... I'm a huge advocate of the arts and bringing cursive writing back into schools as a more "normal" tool to use... but a lot of the projects were very simple and common, while it states it's geared for younger kids and up - the "and up" part doesn't get translated too well.

Wonderful project ideas!
we bought this for our 8 year old, as she has been learning cursive at school this year. She loves working on the creative projects in the book. Fantastic resource!
