incredible!
This stuff really is amazing... break off a small chunk, plob it in a bucket, add some water, and - good lord - the volume! Who is actually buying actual bags of soil now that this stuff exists?! The mixture it creates has an incredible texture, fluffy, spongy, very absorbent, great drainage. Not only that but even though the delivery time stated 5 days - a week, it arrived next day!AND the value of this 5kg block is far beyond anything else on amazon. Highly recommend! From now on I wont be getting it anywhere else..

Great stuff - just add water!!
Arrived quickly. The coir block had no instructions with it but there are lots of YouTube videos that show what you need to do. This stuff really does expand - make sure to place in a very large container. I found that it was a little wet but overnight the coir soaked up excess water and dried out well.

It's heavy
There were no instructions with it to say how much water to add to hydrate. I added too much but it dried out again after spreading it out on the be in the greenhouse. Overall good product and good value but would like to have instructions next time.

Great product..look on YouTube for what to do...
I bought this for my elderly mum who couldn’t get compost over lock down. She’s gardening mad and was very frustrated that the garden centres were closed and she doesn’t know how to do shopping online. She didn’t know what to do so I sent her some YouTube videos about what to mix it with for various uses. She couldn’t believe how much it expanded and how easy it is to store in old compost bags once rehydrated. She particularly loved how easy it was to move and she says she wants some more.

3 stars for the seller, 5 stars for the product
I have used coir blocks to bulk out my compost for years. In April 2020 I got a blocks this size for £6 each. Since then there has been a 150% increase in price. That would be bad enough but what has lost the seller the stars is that the blocks were sent unwrapped in a cardboard box. This is a problem because the blocks are dehydrated and therefore absorb not just direct water but will also swell in damp conditions. Four were sent in one box and had expanded only a little, constrained by the box. The fifth block had a box much larger than it needed and had lost all its corners moving in the box and swelled to twice its size from ambient moisture. Fortunately I was home to receive both packages else the present constant rain would have left me with piles of dirt on the doorstep. I won't be using this seller again.

One Big Block
It is what it says it is, one big block of coir. Nothing else, no instructions. But here is what I found:Ratio is 8:1 water to coir by weight for full hydration. So a 5 kg block of coir needs 40 kg of water to hydrate fully -- or 45Litres.Hot is better.I was hoping to break this up but with limited tools, limited strength, and limited will power to succeed... I finally found a use for the metal garden bin I bought 3 years ago and can't remember what for. Basically, it might be easier if you have a relatively big container to do it all at one. I then just agitated it with my garden fork.No packaging, only the plastic envelope it was delivered in.Would buy again, my bin now has purpose!!!

Good value and easy to use
Very surprising! Must have another bag at the ready if you only want to use a portion at a time as once open it crumbles very quickly. Hydrates very quickly and mixes nicely with other mediums. Recommend

Light and convenient.
I'm getting a bit too feeble to heave 70L sacks of soggy compost from the front door to the far end of the garden. So these 5kg bricks of coir that swell up into 70L of clean compost when soaked in a trug with water are very useful. They don't contain nutrients which is great if you are starting seeds or potting on sensitive seedlings, but for raised beds and containers I mix use a fork and trowel to mix slow release fertiliser pellets into the rehydrated coir, a bit like tossing a salad.
