Awesome
This book covers the lives and works of 30 of the world's best photojournalists. Each journalist is covered with a main text about their lives and career, much if it in their own words. Around this a number of their photographs are inserted with accompanying captions. The book contains a superb collection of images, but it isn't just the images that make it so special. The journalists are not just fantastic photographers, but skilled word-smiths too and the accompanying text is as interesting as the images themselves. There's something for everyone, from Martin Parr's photo of a jar of lemon curd, Ami Vitale's lovely image of children playing, to Ron Haviv's shocking images of violence and war. It also includes Don McCullin's famous shot of the soldier with the thousand yard stare. A truly moving image. This is a book that will make you think, it'll shock you and make you smile. Most of all though it will make you glad there are people out there skilled and brave enough to capture such seminal images.
