The cat tolerates it
Keeping my cat fed is a challenge. If the bowl is empty, he punishes us by leaving “reminders” on the floor or carpet. He’s a vindictive cat. So, I thought maybe an automated feeder would help. Maybe the pavlovian response would kick in and he’d come running when he hears the food dropping into the bowl. Who knows? He has a brain the size of an almond and half the intellect of one. It’s easy to set up, and I chose to go with batteries instead of electricity. It comes with a USB cable and you can supply a power block so that would be really pretty in your kitchen. I left his original food bowl full and let him continue eating from that while he got used to the new feeder. He started eating from it, although the motor bothered him at first. To it’s credit, he neither hissed at it nor attacked it which is pretty remarkable. When his bowl was empty, he started carefully eating from the feeder but meowing at his empty bowl. I let it go for another week before removing it. He adjusted completely and seems fine, although his ears perk up when he hears the food drop. I didn’t adjust the amount drop and I’ve never seen it empty yet. So, the standard amount seems fine.I very much like how easy it is to clean the bowl. My cat is half pig and half buffalo and no manners of any kind. He sort of chews his food and leaves a lot of spit in his bowl. So, having a detachable bowl that I can remove and clean regularly is a big deal as it reduces the amount of vomit and feces he punishes me with.

Love this product!
I have a fat cat who has been on a diet for 5 years. He's suppose to have 3/4 c. of a very good dietary high protein cat food a day, but between my husband and I, he has probably been reaping the benefit of our portion inconsistency for years. So we thought an automatic feeder might just be what we needed. I went with this particular model because of the customer support offered by the company. When I received it, I had to change out the feeding tray from the large capacity to the small capacity. Easy enough, except it said to remove 6 screws and you actually have to remove 7. I really like that you can take it easily apart and clean it. Then I set out to program it. Easy peasy. Where the challenge comes in is trying to get the correct amount of food to disperse. I feed twice a day, so I used one of the meal settings to disperse food until I got as close to 3/4 c. as I could. You get 4 feeding times so I turned off the lunch and 4th meal and use the breakfast and dinner settings. He gets 8 servings in the am and 7 servings in the pm and that's 3/4 cup. Just after purchasing this item, I received an email from the company with tips and tricks and if I needed any help, or had any questions, please contact them. So far, so good!

So far, so good.
I saw that there were several feeders that are exactly like this model, (just different entrepreneurs) so I bought this one as it was the least expensive at the time of purchase. So far it's been easy to set up, and seems to deliver the correct portion for the setting. Time will tell regarding the longevity of the product.Update: 6 months of daily use, and it still works like new.Update: Over a year old and no problems.

Be Careful
Upon arrival it looked good. The set up was fairly easy. I left the wheel dispenser it came with, and I tried a portion size of 1, but it was too much food. I replaced the wheel with the smaller one. Very easy to replace. Keep in mind, the tiny screws are different sizes and must be placed in the correct spot. The small wheel dispenser seemed to work. But after 3 times of pushing the manual button, it stopped dispensing food. I could hear the motor attempting to turn but the small sized food had it stuck. So there I went, replacing the wheel dispenser again. This time, I wrapped a few of the fins with tape. I wrapped them in such a way, that only about half the area between the fins was able to be filled with food and dispensed as a size portion of 1. On another note, it does not seal the food. Dont place a whole bag of food and forget about it. I actually don't use it unless, I know I wont be able to take the time to feed my kitten. I know, I would not like any stale food.

Best. Invention. Ever.
This is truly the best invention of all time. As a cat owner and new mom (to an actual baby, not a fur baby), it has truly been a cannot-live-without item. I wish someone had told me to put it on my baby registry lol. I used to have the automatic feeder that had six little compartments and turned every 12 hours, but I can't even begin to go into all the annoying things about that... but obviously the most annoying is that you had to refill it every three days! I only have one cat, so I probably could go over a month without refilling this bad boy!! It can even *record your voice* to call your kitty when it dispenses food!!! It only took me a few minutes to figure out how to set it up, and I did have to switch out the dispensing part (it comes with two different parts, one that dispenses large food and one that dispenses small food, and the large food dispenser is pre-installed, I had to switch it out for the small food dispenser, which did involve using a screw driver- and I'm not genius when it comes to putting things together with tools) but it was pretty easy and all totally worth it!!!!! No more running down to the basement all the time to make sure the kitty's food dispenser isn't empty, or worrying about hiring someone to come feed him if we go away for a few days. Oh, and the kitty seems to like it too :-)

Love this feeder
Got this feeder a week ago . Very easy set up. I left the wheel In that it came with. Took maybe ten minutes to program. Did a manual try worked perfect. Cat was very curious, once he saw the food come down he was fine with it. It has worked perfect every day . The cat comes running when he hears it. I find it very quiet. It makes a little bark sound and then the food falls into the bowl.. Has made life easier no need to rush home to feed the cat and can sleep in in the morning because cat knows food will come on time
