Great comedy dvds
I love the old Naked Gun movies when I need some easy laughter. I find the convenience of watching a dvd to be an excellent choice when needing a break from overloading with technology.

My Sense of Humor
Film #1 - absolutely brilliant. Everything I want in a film like this. Film #2 very good, but not quite as good as #1. Film #3 typical of "They liked the first two, so they'll buy this one even if it's junk." It was.

Three times funnier than regular comedy, that's for sure
"The Naked Gun Trilogy" may or may not be "three times deadlier than regular comedy," as this DVD's front cover copy proclaims. What's certain is that the three films contained within-"The Naked Gun: From The Files of Police Squad," "The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear," and "The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult"-are funnier than regular comedy. That's because the filmmakers are willing to do anything for a laugh-including slapstick, satire, scatological humor, and puns. And if one joke fails to work, which is rare, the next one will be on screen momentarily. There's little point in attempting to summarize plots, which exist merely as excuses on which the filmmakers-including David Zucker of "Airplane!" fame-hang all those jokes. The common thread connecting them all is the romance between Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) and Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley). As that plays out, Drebin finds himself going undercover as an umpire at Dodger Stadium to thwart an assassination attempt on Queen Elizabeth; stop a plot to sabotage national ecology policy; and go undercover once again as Phil Donahue to stop a terrorist from blowing up the Academy Awards. This last gives us one of the truly great lines of film dialogue: "Phil Donahue is puking in the trombone." And as if that weren't enough, we also get to see real celebrities such as Pia Zadora, Mary Lou Retton and James Earl Jones playing themselves while Drebin-as-Donahue turns the award ceremony into a disaster.Nielsen, Presley and George Kennedy-as Drebin's superior, Capt. Ed Hocken-are the glue holding these films together. None of them ever suggests they know all this funny stuff's going on around them. They play every pun, every one-liner, every slapstick routine and sight gag as seriously as if they were appearing in an actual 1960s TV police drama-appropriate, given that the films are adapted from the short-lived "Police Squad!" TV series of the early 1980s, which parodied 1960s police dramas. Like Don Adams, Barbara Feldon and Edward Platt in these films' cousin, the original "Get Smart" TV series, they're the center around which the madness revolves-a madness which extends even into the films' closing credits, so don't walk away from the screen once they start rolling."The Naked Gun Trilogy" is goofy and lots of fun.

Amazing value!
After reading several reviews for this product I was concerned about the quality of the product from the packaging to the sound and clarity of the picture but my fears were alleviated as soon as I got this in the mail and popped the DVD in the player. The packaging is sturdy. The quality of the picture/movie is fine, as is the sound. Best of all for $7.50 you get all three discs/films. What a bargain! So much so, that I bought another one for my sister for her birthday, who's never seen any of these films. She asked me for a recommendation of a film that would make her laugh and get her mind off of the nightmare that we are currently experiencing due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the madman in our White House and The Naked Gun came to mind. After 20 years some of the gags are a bit dated (remember how they used to dye pistachio nuts, red?) but there are still bits in this film that make me laugh out loud. Although the 2nd and 3rd films are not as funny, the $7.50 price is a steal if all you care to watch is the first one which I think is the best one although there are some laughs in the 2nd and 3rd disc too.

Love these movies!
Whats not to love about these type of stupid comedies. I love the sight gags, and dry delivery lines that make you think before you bust out laughing. I was disappointed that this set does NOT include digital copies of any of the 3 films. One weird thing, I already owned the first one, the disc is grey with the usual logo, & corporate type stuff on it's face, when I opened the new set, the grey disc had what looks like dried blood on it. Confused I opened the old one, it did not have red spots on it, It was factory sealed, so I know it was not tampered with. I just swapped it out for the one I already had. I did try to use the VUDU at home program to get the digital copies for the 2nd and 3rd movies, since I had already done it to the 1st one awhile back, they didn't work, It wouldn't recognize the discs, LAME! So if you are like me and want the physical and digital versions, know that you wont get it threw this set. $15 for this set is still totally worth it regardless.

A good run for your money!
The three CDs contain a single production lasting approximately 80 minutes each; this is around four times as long as the short episodes for the "Police Squad" six-episode series. There are some affinities between the two productions but the "Naked Gun" for me rather overruns its ventures in timescale and extremes of violent nonsense.Leslie Nielsen has aged visibly since the earlier series and not quite to his credit. (Fortunately, Nielsen hasn't lost his skill in running his car into stationary items such as waste bins.)In short, I would have preferred a substantial increase in the number of episodes for "Police Squad" thereby rendering the larger production unnecessary.Still, we cannot undo what has been done and, by Timothy (sic: Paul Temple), I'll no be seen to be carping matey!

Highly recommend this film series.
Brilliant laugh. I bet these guys had as much fun making the movie series as i had watching. George Kennedy throwing his badge and gun and bra? Away cos he's had enough of the perp. And what happens next is pure class. He he. :).

Fantastically funny.
The DVDs arrived on time and, although second hand, are in very good condition. The films themselves were excellent - replete with exquisitely funny sight gags and comic dialogue. Comedy at its best. Writing and performances of the best quality. Enjoyed them immensely.
