Great grabber!
I purchased this some time ago after some abdominal surgery. This is a great grabber. I have purchased two others since then to put around the house and neither one compares to this one. The others are cheaply made and bend easily. You can literally pick up a dime with this and you grip the handle like a gun so it is not hard to hold on to the handle. Some of the others have handles which are hard to use. I've picked up relatively heavy items (maybe 5 pounds or so) with no problem. This has rubber grippers on the ends. I've had it for over a year now and it's still working great since I have problems bending over due to an incisional hernia from the surgery.

Best geezer tweezer I have ever used! (UPDATE)
Since losing my legs back in 2006, I've tried practically every reacher/grabber/geezer tweezer to be found. Multiple therapists have ordered multiple grabbers for me but, frankly, even the one that I called "the best" was only because it had a larger magnet and could pick up a larger paper clip. Many of those years were spent in a nursing home so when I moved out on my own about three years ago, I went shopping for the "best" that I could buy on my own. But trying to find one that would be useful in grabbing a can of beans from my top kitchen shelf? No, I couldn't find anything like that. I had to rely on my caregiver (when she was here) or a neighbor (in an emergency) to come in and grab that can of beans. No more.I was a bit skeptical when I bought this but when it arrived and I began, with just a bit of practice, to rearrange the cans in my upper cupboards, to grab large pint glasses above my stove and to completely re-do my kitchen, living room, etc., I was hooked. You may not be able to hang your new 42" LCD TV on your wall single-handedly but you can help someone actually doing the job (I did)! And please don't be offended by the quite non-official name of "geezer tweezer" – that's what we called them in the nursing home!***UPDATE*** Still, going into my second year of using, finding this to be the absolute best handicapped aid in my home - at least, the most used as I only use my shower bench once or twice daily. I visited today to purchase more 'cups' for the EZ Reacher - I order some with the reacher in 2015 but I can't recall where I put them! So, since I found the cups I was presented with the reacher as "also purchased with," etc., I decided to update my review. I can still grab large cans of - whatever - from the cabinets above my sink... and still pick up a tiny pill of my Nitrostat from the floor. I'm thinking of buying another so that I can have one always near and I'll no longer need to carry a single stick around or wonder where i last left it. I think that there is a 40" EZ brand available. I'll check.Again, going over into my second year of use, this remains the best geezer tweezer, grabber, reacher, stick, whatever, that I have ever used and I would recommend it to anyone in need of such a device. Highly recommended!

Good, not Great
This reacher is good, but not the best. I've had multiple Alcoa teachers and loved them. I thought I was getting the same thing here, but the handle is not as comfortable and slips. The previous one I had, the handle was curve and for the hand perfectly. It also had a long, which I used frequently, usually for heavy or glass items. This had neither of the best features. It did however, have the suction cups, a big help. It also had had the handle facing the correct direction. Really liked, but did not.love.

Extremely Useful
I have three of these things and find it's the best all around tool for a variety of reaching tasks. It is very sturdy and holds picked up items securely unlike some other grabbers. I've tried other brands but find they have limitations and are only suitable for certain situations. I wanted a tool that would work for whatever problem arose. While this grabber isn't heavy, it performs heavy-duty tasks such as retrieving an infrequently used bottle of, say, vinegar, from a high shelf in the kitchen, or putting it back up there. Conversely, the flexible rubber grabber pads can safely grasp a crystal goblet or a light bulb. In my office, I'm forever retrieving things that have fallen behind my desk or pulling computer cables behind things. In the garage, there are things out of reach to be fetched and sticks, etc., to pick up in the yard. I carry one on the garden tractor to move things I don't want to run over while cutting the grass. The rubber grabber pads are 1.5" in diameter and are 4" apart when completely open. Just about anything that will fit in there can be handled. Other grabbers I've tried may be fine for retrieving lightweight dropped items without bending over, but don't have the strength to manage heavier things. The 32" length is long enough for high shelves, etc., but not so long as to compromise your control when managing a hefty or awkward object at a distance.I definitely recommend this tool over others of its type.

Great tool for after surgery recovery
Oh my gosh where do I start! I LOVE this grabber. I had some surgery that severly restricted my ability to bend over or reach for things I would normally have been able to reach for during my recovery. This was just the right size to grab everything from a dropped pencil to picking up my dog's food dishes. I did end up fashioning a velcro strap to go around the tongs to up the grab strength for picking up those heavier items like the dog dishes full of food and that made it even more useful. They do sell a little gadget that does the same thing, but my velcro strap accomplished the same thing just fine! The little rubber cups on the end of the grabber were great for picking up things that were small too. I actually picked up a quarter that I had dropped on the floor with it easily. This particlar one has a pretty wide grab too. Great tool for recovering after surgery and I would imagine it would be very useful for anyone with restricted motion.
