The Kitchen Witch

Nice book
I like that she touched base on all the Sabbaths in this book, with a few spells. I will use her recipes as a guide to cook foods related to each Sabbath. She discusses magical properties for the different herbs and spices also. There is not much else the book. Should have a different title. Almost misleading. It's a book of Sabbaths. Not much kitchen here. I do appreciate her way of cooking. As discussed in another review that was speaking negatively on this book and of the authors views on cooking from scratch. Reviewer stated this book made her feel guilty for not having enough time to feed her family in that way. That quote made me purchase this book because wether or not You have time to cook that way, it IS how we should be cooking. Especially if you want to follow a pagan/Wiccan life style "harm none". Processed foods are poisonous. It may not kill you with one bite, but poison it is. What magical recipes would YOU rather cook up in the kitchen? We can aways learn new skills. Even better when they are to are families benefit.

Have Google ready for some of these ingredients...
Good information and yummy sounding recipes. But a huge warning for any USA witches, some ingredients are not available here. While most recipes are pretty short( less than 10 ingredients) so many things are just not in our stores. I had to google most of them and... Yeah not finding them here. So I had to get creative and sub some stuff out. Besides that, a nice short book with practical info and good recipes.

Magical Little Book...
This book is a great resource for someone starting out on a hearth/kitchen witch path, or for those building a library of Kitchen Witch resources. There is a chapter for each sabbat, with a variety of seasonal recipes for each, as well as corresponding crystals, incense, and a ritual. There are also resources on stocking a magical kitchen, basic recipes for cooking essentials (stock, bread, rice) a convenient herb and spice guide, and also a magical flower guide. The last chapter has information on natural cleaning, lotions and potions. It is only a few pages, so I wish this chapter could have been longer. I would have also liked to see a chapter on moon phases and cooking. Overall, this book is nothing groundbreaking, but it's nice to have all of this information in one place, and the recipes look good, easy, and seasonal (haven't tried any yet). The recipes have both US and Metric units, which is helpful. One of the things i love most about this book are the sweet illustrations on most of the pages. Overall, this is a beautiful addition to my cooking library.

Great for celebrations
This has been a go to for me when it comes to celebrations. My husband is Pagan and I was raised Catholic. I honestly had no idea when it came to Pagan holidays but my husband isn't a cook and we live so far away from his family so it's up to me to help him in his religion. While I don't necessarily participate in his rituals I have no issues with my own religion to help him with the cooking. This book has some great recommendations for festivities and it has very simple and delicious recipes. We had a delicious recipe from the book for Beltane that was lemon chicken with lavender lemonade. This book also has some how to guides on holidays. For example it explains the May Pole and what it symbolizes. This has been a great addition to my cook book collection.

Great for beginners and everyone else in between!
This book is very informative โ especially, if youโre newer to the path. It doesnโt overwhelm you with a plethora of information. The recipe are good โ some of them Iโve modified as Iโm an experienced cook. She has made several of the recipes easier for anyone newer to cooking. She gives good explanations, which helps find more info by googling, if necessary. My best friend who has been practicing for a couple decades, also approves of this book.

Decent gift
I got this as a gift for my roommate. I haven't really gone through it thoroughly, but I bought it before I read the reviews. I hope my roommate will like it. Update: the lady who wrote this is definitely condescending. She made a comment about how people with cold sores don't take care of themselves? Lmao

Recipes need measurements
I really love this book! It's great for celebrating all the Sabbats and for a reference point. It comes organized by Sabbat, explains each one, provides a ritual and then recipes. I've tried out some of the Samhain recipes for the Rosemary Potato Salad and Spicy Butternut Squash. They are absolutely delicious! The only thing I think could be better is if the recipes had exact measurements. I'm not the greatest of cooks, but it would have been very helpful to know where to start.

Celebration recipes
Lots of great recipes to celebrate. However there are no lotions like the title lead me to believe.

Heavy on the recipes and light on the lotions and potions
I really like this book. There are loads of recipes for each sabbat, some sweet and some savoury. Ranging from pastry dough, pancakes, salads, pies, punch to soups, breads, puddings, omelettes, cakes and ladys fingers. I can't wait to try them all out. At the back of the book, there are natural product recipes for furniture cleaner, carpet freshener, bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, air fresheners, athletes foots, bread poultice, soap poultice, decongestants, cough syrup, sore throat syrup, remedies for cold sores, headache remedy, indigestion remedy, fresh breath remedy and remedy for 'the blues'/sad times/depression.There are no pictures in this book but its totally worth it anyway. I will pass this book on to my little witches one day. I highly recommend this book. :)

A poorly written, superbasic cookbook w some lines about the pagan celebrations.
Not what I expected, I hoped for something more detailed when discussing the celebrations and disappointed with the recepie section too - VERY! basic recepies with no cultural explanations. I hoped for a more spiritual touch on the cooking part of the book, talking about the properties of herbs used in recepies, etc. Waaayy to basic, I put more spiritualism into my everyday cooking than this book has in sum.

I like this book
I tend to like how Soraya writes so I'm positively predisposed towards her work. I like the structure. I'd like a version of this for vegetarians though as some of the celebratory meals are very meat centric.

An excellent informative read for anyone
This book is an excellent read whether you are a practising Pagan, just starting out on the path or are interested purely in the recipes, It is packed full of very useful information written in a way that is interesting and easy to understand. The recipes are also very good and tasty. Would recommend this book to anyone.
