A beautiful product at this cost. All metal body, very sturdy construction. Just wish it had height adjustment too.

The Cinematics DSLR Matte Box is the finest matte box I've used at several higher price-points. If you're looking for quality, stop here. I've used a couple other matte boxes on-set, both from Bright Tangerine and Red Rock Micro. The Red Rock Micro one was probably 14x bigger than my rig, nothing micro about it. It also was made of plastic, minus the flags... that didn't help with the weight or the size. The Bright Tangerine, while really nice, cost a fortune and you didn't get any flags with it. Not knocking either product, they were well-made, just not well thought out for the indie filmmaker.On the other hand, the Cinematics DSLR Matte Box was all aluminum. Light enough to carry around, but very sturdy. There's a video of a guy picking up his rig with it on YouTube. It's really well-cut aluminum too, it all fits perfectly, no rough edges and very clean manufacturing -- I wouldn't be surprised if the factory where this is made, is the same factory where they make $2,000+ matte boxes. If not, those companies should consult with Cinematics and see if they'll design their next matte box because this is superb. I chose to buy here on Amazon vs other sites because I trust Amazon. After receiving the product, I now trust Cinematics as well...The interior of the flags are matte micro-velvet, in fact... not shiny plastic like others. The side flags are adjustable for height and width and the flags themselves can be made larger and smaller as they are 2-pieces. The top and bottom flags are nice and large. Solid with no bend or flex. Instead of the donuts, it came with the flexible cloth matte ring donut, which allows for mounting it to most all cinema lenses. Even the elastic is made really well -- it holds very snug and it more bungee than elastic cord -- made properly with no snags, tears or loose strings. The 4x4 filter trays are extremely high quality molded from crush-resistant hard plastic (in order to protect your expensive filters), but they don't look or feel plastic. The piece which holds your filter in place is not plastic, it's aluminum and high quality, springs work great. Since some of the reviews about the filter holders back in 2013-2015, it seems Cinematics has really listened to any initial challenges from old reviews and refined this matte box to make it extremely clean, well built and usable on-set, where it counts.Very pleased with this matte box and the quality at any price-point, but at this price it is amazing to say the least -- it crushes competitors. The box itself is machined very well, it slides on with a simple 15mm rod setup and sits snugly against my lenses. I've attached some pictures of the initial mount, using it with my Blackmagic Cinema Camera in order to capture some details. If you're on the fence, or have several matte-boxes on your wish list and can't decide, go with this one. Arrives in about 2 weeks so calculate that into your film schedule and the team at Cinematics was VERY attentive to emails, tracking and packaging.

I purchased this matte-box more than a month ago, and just got it together. I had to resolve Quality control problems with the seller. The box had stripped out screw holes. The seller sent me replacement parts to repair it. The fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired. In all, it feels very clunky - nothing seems to fit smoothly. If you buy this thinking you will get a well-polished system; you will be disappointed. This box does the job, and that's enough at this price. If you want a system that is well built, it will cost you a great deal more!

The media could not be loaded. It's all metal and seems well made. The shipping was quick about 5 days DHL from Hong Kong. It ain't the most expensive one out there but it ain't the cheapest either. First impression is good but a little heavy.

Well-built and inexpensive for the quality of the materials and construction. Was tempted by a unit for $200, similar to one I've had in the past, but I'd have to be stupid to save $100 on this and get a unit that is quite literally 1/3 the quality. This is nice and probably comparable to units selling for a couple hundred more.

Let me say first. I am a user. I own two studios and a production company and we train crew. This matte box is everything beyond my expectation. I was basically shocked looking the Arri next to it then this one and thinking wow I bought this for training purposes. No way this is going Into our production gear it is that good. I could write a long list of why this beats anything I have looked at under $2000.00. I don't pump up reviews and I don't play games. I train people o do things right and to leave the bs behind. Great piece of gear.

all great metal build quality except the plastic 4x4 trays that do not hold a filter properly, also the spring balls on the lens gate broke out with the first attachment procedure, still holds decently, so for that price its quite OK
