Bright! For better or worse?
You know, this bulb is super bright for a bedside lamp! It provides much more light for “bedside reading and nighttime tasks” in their words than expected. I haven’t given it a test run quite yet in which I can adjust, or if I will return it or use it elsewhere outside the bedroom. Otherwise, this seems like a good product, but the so far the main product is essentially the light emitted and this bulb is bright! If you like that, I think you’ll like it as an evening lamp. My previous light has a lot of blue light and was a desk lamp of a kind (IKEA) so this is what is supposed to be a dedicated bedside table lamp. We’ll see. The size and design is a plus.. Consider all the factors.

Wonderful product!
I purchased this for my mother’s bedroom. She has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t like the dark. This allows plenty of light during the night yet creates a warm glow to allow sleep.

Enhance Your Rest
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've likely heard how warm spectrum (2175k in this case) light in the evening is best for relaxing and drifting off to sleep. Light towards the blue end of the spectrum (5000k plus) is great for alertness but not for the production of melatonin. Illumination from our devices and computer tends to be cooler and not that great for promoting a natural sleep cycle. If you *are* living under a rock, you wouldn't need to worry about that anyway.Enter the Lighting Science DX-2314A Healthe Goodnight Bedside Table Lamp. Its warm bulb is ideal for use as dream time nears and if you need to get up at night. Its cozy glow is soothing and won't inhibit restfulness. This is a compact, minimalist lamp that is primarily a circular plastic base with a firm cloth shade. It isn't overly refined and actually seems a little cheap. What you're really paying a premium here for is the GoodNight "sleep-enhancing" LED bulb. It is a standard E26 and would work just as well in any lamp, so I have to dock it star for seeming to be a bit overpriced for what you get. I've had other "sleep-friendly" bedside lights and they don't have a replaceable bulbs, so that is something in the DX-2314A's favor. The power switch is inline on the cord about a foot from the lamp. The Healthe Goodnight Bedside Table Lamp is a bit pricey for what you get. There are no extra bells and whistles, no connectivity, no auto-off feature. But maybe that's the point. Simplify and streamline to help unclutter your mind so you can just relax and sleep. Thank you Lighting Science.~ Kort

The bulb is the main attraction, giving off warm white LED sourced light for the hour before bed.
The main attraction here is the bulb, a GoodNight-brand warm-emitting (2175K) LED that produces about 600 lumens, which is about the same as a incandescent 40w bulb. Although the bulb is yellow, the light is not a yellow bug light color, but rather is simply a very warm white. Brighter than a night-light, if close to your pillow, the bulb produces sufficient lighting for reading a book while not producing the cool bluish light that could make it difficult for you to fall asleep after switching off the light. The bulb itself is available separately for about fifteen bucks. So what the additional thirty gets you in this case is the fixture: a metal framed cloth cylinder atop a light-weight plastic base. The light shines primarily upward but there's a fair degree of horizontal spread through the cloth. The AC cord is white and has an in-line power switch for the fixture. The fixture itself could be less expensively achieved through other means, but the bulb works as desired...makes for a wonderful source of warm light before bed.

Need to be alone with this for 90 minutes before bed to see effect
For this to work, according to the directions you have to turn off all light emitting devices except for this 90 minutes before bed. I realize this product can only do so much, but my life cannot accommodate an hour and half of no light except for this lamp and me sitting in otherwise darkness just to get maybe better sleep. I use a kindle to read, does that count? I sometimes watch tv, I know that doesnt count. If I use my phone on nighttime mode does that hurt? It just doesnt do it enough.
