Great Ferro Rods for a Great Price
These ferro rod blanks work great and you can't beat the price. I made 5 ferro rods with handles for less than what it would have cost for one Light My Fire Scout model.Shipping from China took forever for a spoiled Prime member, but I knew that going in, so no complaints. The only thing I didn't like about this product was that the rods I received were slightly shorter than advertised. The diameter was right on at 5/16", but all of them were slightly shorter than 3". One star off for that.I am definitely satisfied with these and will be buying more soon, since I'm giving most of them away to friends.Check out the customer images for the handle I made with built in tinder!

Great ferro rods
These arrived quicker than I thought they would, so kudos to them for shipping quickly.Do they work? Yes, and quite well. They are a little hard. However, if you have a knife with a good, sharp spine, you get showers of hot sparks. I tested them with knives made from 1075 to O1, then various kinds of stainless steel. As long as the knife being used as a striker had a good edge on the spine, it worked. I even through great sparks from my Kershaw Oso Sweet.I will order more to have on hand. For the money you spend on one name brand ferro rod, you can have five. If you spend time outdoors, buy these.

Good product, good service.
I bought a few of these a while back and have them to friends. I wanted a few more so I ordered another pack. The envelope I received was empty. I contacted the seller and they took care of the problem right away, sending me another bunch. I like the size of these rods, I'm pressing them into 300 Blackout casings for handles and they work great.

exceeded expectations
really wasn't expecting much but to my surprise these are very nice, heavy duty ferro rods......they come with a pretty heavy black coating on them that needs to be sanded off before they can effectively throw sparks though, just fyi....once you get that coating off however, they spark as well as any name brand steel......very happy with my purchase, I suggest you take advantage of this deal.

Don't get tempted by the cheap price. I got only a few strikes at the very surface. No sparks from the core. All going to the trash can.

I have a lot of experience with flint rods. These are just too hard. I used identical strikers and got very different results. These don't throw nearly the sparks as the other brand names. You pay significantly more for the other brands but if you are in need of a flint fire starter you want one that will cooperate. For the record - I did a very good job of cleaning the black shipping coating off before the test.
