3M 201+ Masking Tape [Pack of 1000 Pcs.] - 0.5 in. Square Tape Strip with Solvent Free Rubber Adhesive, Crepe Backing

This tape is labeled "3M 201+". If this is genuine 3M tape, I'll buy every Amazon employee a beer. Have been unable to tear off a decent piece of this tape.It shreds, splits unevenly, sticks to itself, and is simply of the poorest quality.

Absolute trash, the adhesive on the tape is stronger than the tape. So basically to remove any tape you continually rip it because the adhesive is so much stronger than the tape. BY NO MEANS am I complimenting the quality of the adhesive because the adhesive is weak and once peeled back doesn't adhere to anything very well, that being said the masking tape is pathetically thin and tears WAY too easily to be used in any capacity. You can't even peel it off the roll without it ripping.

Bought this more expensive 3M brand wide masking tape so that it would not "peel off" into smaller strips while I was using it. But it does anyway. I guess all masking tape is just cheaply made these days. There is nothing special about this expensive 3M tape, so just save your money.

So, for the price, it’s definitely great and there isn’t a ton of choice for masking tape in this width (I got 6” wide in case this review attaches to all widths). It came packed in a bubblepack bag, and had a bunch of dents on both ends from being bounce, so, as I tried to peel a clean piece, it’d get hung up there and tear... repeatedly... for at least the first 4-5 yards I pulled. I was using this to cover the bed on my 3D printer so double layers and tears can cause weirdness on the print (or: ruin it when the print head hits a bump). It eventually did work out, and was the amount of adhesion I needed for that; it stuck, but I didn’t need a blow torch and a hand grenade to remove it after use. If it has been better packed, I might have rated it better, but I definitely felt like I got ripped every time to tape ripped.

DO NOT BUY THIS FAKE TAPE!!! IT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY!!!I ordered 3M General Use 201 Masking tape. But I received a fake generic crap that does not work! The adhesive on this tape is inferior! If you value the project you are using tape on DO NOT BUY this FAKE product. You will ruin your work or have trouble repairing the damage. The tape does not stick well. Then when it is time to peel it off there are leaks everywhere and the tape disintegrates leaving a horrible adhesive behind that is difficult to clean off.I have reached out to 3M legal team about this false advertising of their product. If you are a professional you know how important quality adhesive it for your masking tape. Do not be fooled by this fraud! You will regret it!

I purchased this to do some masking and for the life of me whenever I tried peeling it off the role it would rip. I tried for 30 minutes to get one run going but couldn't. I handed it to my wife and she had the same problem. We wasted so much of this trying just to get 1 run out of it that we couldn't even return it. I am calling it a loss at this point. I would not recommend this, there are others out there that work much better.

I should have read the reviews before purchasing this but I saw that it was from 3M and thought it would work well. The tape itself would probably be perfect for what I need it for if I could only get it to come off the roll in a solid piece! I have spent more time than I'd care to admit trying to just get it to come off in anything more than tiny little strips. Very frustrating for the money that I spent on it that it's a complete waste!

I got this because it had 4 out of 5 star reviews, and I was like, “well nonproductive is perfect, so that’s a great reputation,” and bought it. Crap. The tape itself is super fragile and the adhesion is too strong for the strength of the tape. Never got a good solid pull for the entire width, constantly ripping. Save yourself frustration and don’t buy this.

I should've read the reviews. This is my first Amazon review ever.I bought this tape thinking "3M tape, must be good" and was proven wrong from the first piece I tried to tear off.Like the other people who bought this, I CANNOT get a SINGLE piece without it tearing longways. It is literally impossible to get more thant 3 cm of straight tape. It tears EVERY time. Even in the most delicate way.If you are not a professional painter, save 10$ and go buy 10 rolls at the dollar store they are way better than this.If you are a professional painter, you'll have nightmares if you buy this tape.DO NOT BUY THIS.

This is my second order of this tape. Firs tape was absolutely great , but with this order product came and its quality was worse then ever .

I bought this to use to mask material I cut and engrave with my Glowforge. It works perfectly! It's easy to apply and easy to remove after cutting/engraving is complete.

I had read a review that this tape doesn't rip easily, but it does, and in all the wrong directions from what I want. I end up with pieces instead of a strip that I need. I bought this as an alternative to Auntie Tays Tape, and unfortunately, it doesn't work the same.

I bought this specifically because I needed wide strips of masking tape. This stuff is impossible to pull off in a single piece and rips readily. Regrettably, it's completely useless for my purchase. Lesson learned.
