FIRST USE: Expanded baseball cap's size by a full 1/8 (and if you know hats, that's a big deal)...
I'd found a Minor League ball cap, manufactured in the 90s, that I had my sights set on for a while. It was listed on eBay and it was BRAND NEW with the tags still on (a rare hat in even rarer condition). Unfortunately, its size was 7 1/8, and I'm a true 7 1/4-- no larger, and definitely no smaller. It was a really good price, though, so I decided to get the hat AND finally invest in a hat stretcher, or at least try one out. Besides, I have other favorite 7 1/4 hats that have shrunken over the years and have since been way too tight to wear comfortably. Well, about a week later, the StretcherMan was in my possession with a sturdy makeup, a stout little box (with which you could easily store the device and travel), and a set of simple directions. My first time using the StretcherMan was my experiment with the aforementioned 7 1/8 hat that I had just purchased (somewhat impulsively). I had low expectations going into this trial-- if you know anything about fitted baseball caps, you know that their sizes usually run in increments of "1/8" (which equates to about 1 cm or 0.4 in. for each eighth); and, if you know anything about adult-sized heads, they're very hard and inflexible. So, once the hat shrinks, it's usually all she wrote. With nothing to lose except $35 on PayPal for the hat and $15 on Amazon for this product, I began the experiment. I lightly sprayed some water around the cap's crown/band, inserted the StretcherMan, twisted the handle to stretch it out, and let it sit for the rest of the evening and overnight...I KID YOU NOT, after less than 24 hours of simply keeping the StretcherMan expanded inside the hat, it fit JUST AS WELL as my 7 1/4 hats: the StretcherMan literally increased the hat's size by at least 1/8 without compromising the hat's structure at all. Trust me, I closely observed the stitching upon removal and saw no damage at all. I'm no seamstress, but I know my way around a ball cap, and this one ain't falling apart any time soon. So, the device clearly exceeded my expectations and justified my purchase of a hat that wasn't supposed to fit my head (NOTE: I know that in the product's description, the makers claim that it can stretch a hat by 1/8-1/4, but I took the "I'll believe it when I see it" approach; besides, "stretching" doesn't usually include maintaining structure). More importantly, now I know that using the device to stretch my true-sized hats back to their original shapes will be a cinch. To finish this long-winded review off, I must share how easy the StretcherMan is to use. I saw some guy on YouTube using a similar hat stretcher (a different brand, though) and explaining how he uses pliers to twist the center handle, or else it'll chews his hand up (?!). I assure you that pliers are not necessary for the StretcherMan-- it was effortless and pain-free to twist the center handle in order to expand the device and, in turn, stretch the hat to its desired size. Also, structurally, I know this thing is going to last. Financially, I already know of at least three more hats in my collection that this thing is going to revive (3 x about $32 each = $96 that stays in my pocket), and I'm certain that some hats that fit now will shrink down the road. Luckily, I know that I'll have my handy StretcherMan to save 'em.QUICK TIP: Spray some water around the cap's band, moistening it on the inside as well as the outside (don't soak it!...just a touch) before inserting and expanding the StretcherMan. Steam is better for polyester caps (for example, most 59Fifty caps are 100% polyester now); using a handheld clothing steamer will suffice. To err on the side of caution, go a little farther with the stretcher each time. In my case, though, I went right for the desired size and, like I said before, the cap turned out fine.Clearly, I like hats and I already love this product. If you're anything like me, you'll love the StretcherMan as well. *Star-wipe to 1990s infomercial in which I turn around to the camera, give a huge thumbs up, and yell, "THANKS, STRETCHERMAAAN!"*

Wish I'd had one years ago
I use this for homburg/borsalino and wide-brim hats, so they will not deform and shrink when not in use. It is nicely made (probably hand-assembled, but if "in some dude's garage," dude has a nice garage there), and being made of cedar is a plus. Easy to adjust, and easy to gradually apply small pressure increases, so you won't pop through fabric or split a seam. I wear a 7-7/8, so it's hard to find a good hat. This can make a near-thing work.

Too Slippery!
The adjustable turn buckle is polished so fine, that it's very slippery and difficult to keep gripped. Would be better if made of or coated with hard rubber.

Product is quality!
My husband received this product yesterday for Christmas... excellent product! He used it yesterday on a quality hat that has never fit him. Not even 24 hours later, the hat fits him well.. like it was made for him. Great product and simple to use. Thanks!!
