Will Shortz Presents Hard Sudoku Volume 3: 200 Challenging Puzzles

I know level of difficulty is very subjective, but based on the description and reading many reviews of this series, I thought these were the books for me. I was wrong!I routinely finish newspaper Sudokus rated 5 stars out of 5, and one of the papers occasionally throws in a 6 and I can do it. I have downloaded Sudokus from different websites and can always do either the most difficult or next to the most difficult.But I have not been able to solve a single one of these puzzles. I have attempted at least ten of the "Demanding" puzzles and couldn't complete a single one. The second half of the book is "Beware! Very Challenging" and I haven't even tried any of those.My daughter is visiting and she completed a "Demanding" puzzle. I had bought two books in this series so I returned the book I hadn't yet started. I will have to see what else Will Shortz offers, or maybe I'll just stick with Sudokus downloaded from the web.

I am an addict of very difficult sudoku. Unfortunately, they are not all equal. Many are computer generated and not solvable by human logic, only by gimmicky formulas. Will Shortz edits sudoku to make sure they are solvable by humans.

I guess I have been doing Sudoku too long. I am handling the demanding puzzles in this book but I prefer the BVC. I can really feel the brain juices flowing !!!

The title is correct!

As always, Will Shortz develops the best and most challenging puzzles to do. I also like the small format, perfect for long airport wait times or before the morning paper when the brain is rested and fully charged.
