I've been looking to replace/upgrade from a faux-leather bag that I purchased way back in 2000 for carrying papers and a laptop on an extended two-month business trip. I still have that bag, but I wanted to get something a bit nicer for a 2-week business trip to Europe so I purchase this product.Now that I've returned, I feel like I can offer some practical feedback and advice about the bag. First off, I used this as part of my carry-on luggage for my first flight, but I packed it away in mu checked luggage and switched to a backpack for the final flights of my trip. It's not good for a serious multi-flight carry-on through multiple airports or on a train.Bottom line - the bag is OK. That's about it. It's not cheaply made or defective, but it's not well-designed for the advertised use. There are a number of areas for improvement that I wish I could have done something about during my trip.Here are some criticisms:1) Initially smell and oily. Lots of comments about this. It's goat leather, so that's to be expected. I hung it in my garage for a week or so before my trip and the smell went away. The oil in the leather did stain a few things (business cards, loose paper, etc.). This wasn't a real problem for me, but I thought it should be acknowledged. The real issues/disappointment was the design itself.2) The shoulder strap was not great, just OK and only after I made some modifications.The shoulder strap was not completely stretched before it was sewn-up and did not have enough holes. There was no mechanism to adjust the length of the strap and there was nothing to do with the excess strap material except tie it in a loose knot (like a necktie). The strap is made of two pieces, and the excess strapping material and buckle is right around my shoulder. This looked a bit weird. I'm around 6' (2 meters) tall, which is a pretty average height in much of the world. Also, The "pad' that came on the strap was also much too large and slide to one end very easily. because it was not completely stretched, the strap itself was so flexible that it could "roll" into a tube shape pretty easily. I added a couple holes to the leather so I could use the buckle to get the length I needed, but having misplaced my leather punch, this was harder that it should have been. The buckle half of the strap really should have been on one end of the strap, not in the middle of the shoulder strap. The hooks that were sewn and riveted on the ends of the strap were pretty solid and heavy-duty.3) The main flap and carry handle also have some design issues.Having a big folder-and-buckle cover was good for security; but like the shoulder strap the the securing strap on the cover did not have enough holes to close tightly over the contents of the bag. At its tightest, the cover easily left enough space for someone's hand to slip into the bag and pick-pocket you on the train or in a restaurant. I added another hole to the securing strap, allowing me to close the cover tightly. With the cover closed security was improved.. but there's so much extra strapping that a good 4-6" (10-15 cm) of the strap dangles down and "slaps" the bag as you walk. Much more seriously... with the cover closed tightly, the carry handle is then about 2 inches (5cm) from the actual top of the bag, so it hangs badly and carries badly. Also, because there is no rigid bit of leather or metal in the top of the covering flap, the top of the bag starts to "fold" and "deform." This was a real issue and when cover folds the side gap open and someone can reach inside. Adding a strip of heavy leather or metal and moving the sewn and riveted handle to the "top" of the bag would have solved these issues. The handle itself was securely attached.4) The hardware is a mixed bag. The buckles are OK, not especially heavy duty - just adequate. The clasps on the should strap are heavy duty, but the metal loops on the sides of the bag are made of a much thinner metal wire and I don't trust that they will last or hold up to heavy use.The Pros1) The bag looks good. The leather is finished beautifully and the bag was made of large single pieces of leather - no cheap hack jobs.2) The riveting and sewing are top notch - clearly assembled by skilled craftspeople.3) Several divided of pockets inside the back - zippered and otherwise. One held my laptop quite well and securely4) The pouch pocket on the front was great for holding phones and quick-access items5) The zippered rear pocket was great for important papers that I didn't want to lose, and the interior "not-obvious" zippered as great for things that I didn't want a pick-pocket to grab.Overall, the quality is commensurate with the price. If the design were tweaked in a few small, but important ways, it would be comparable to much more expensive "artisan" leather bags out there.

That is a product that is manufactured in Marroco or somwhere in Nortern Africa. It is same good quality product that i had in Marroco hand made products for less than 10--15$ but worth the price they request.Do not expect to see a well refined product, but a product that is durablle and do his job. It smells like any leather product so some could be not very happy.

The bag itself is fine. Seems to be good quality, but the smell of whatever chemical that is used to preserve or prevent rodents from getting into it while shipping is simply awful. I had to put a car fragrance insert into the bag to hopefully eliminate it.

Debo reconocer que al momento de elegir tuve mis dudas, ya que hablaban que tenia mal olor, la verdad es que el producto es de excelente calidad, artesanía en cuero legitimo y bien trabajado ,de todas maneras vale la pena la compra, lo del olor no es nada, efectivamente hay algo de olor que corresponde al cuero, que desparece con el uso pero absolutamente soportable, nada que moleste o incomode.

So oily, unusable. I read most of the reviews and ignored the comments that said stinky and oily. At first it wasn't a big deal. Then the other day I left the bag in my car overnight, brought it into my office and placed it on some banker's boxes. Lifted the bag to retrieve some docs and BOOM! It felt gross and smelled gross and made my office smell gross. I had to throw it away in the outside trash because of the smell. My only regret is that I cant return it to the store I bought it from because I purchased it on Amazon. Next time I make purchase like this, I will buy from a brick and mortar so I can hold a person accountable face to face.

Beware, they put so much oiled conditioner on the inside, of the leather case, that it will stain any paper / documents you have.

beautiful, sturdy and appears very well made! i’m so excited to see this wear with time and discolour a bit, but it is stunning! i’m super thrilled with the purchase! great size, great bag! i’m sure i will get tons of use out of this for years to come

I don’t like the initial smell of the leather initially when I opened the package-2 weeks have passed and the smell is subsidingSlowly-

While the photo looks wonderful, the bag definitely smelled like leather, but the appearance wasn’t close to what we expected. Not extremely pleased, but it will do while I look for one much better in similar design.
