Our pals at Imperial Valley Guitar Co. have spun off their resonator guitars into a new line they call Royall. This model is their take on the fabled 1928-1929 National Triolian. For only the first year of its existence the Triolian came with a wood body and sound well. After 1929 all Triolians had 2 or 3 piece metal bodies. Of course, those first year models are now highly coveted for their unique sound. The original 1929 Triolians were usually painted a solid yellow color like the later metal body ones. The Royall '29 Triolian Maple is naturally finished to let the tiger striped maple grain show through and adds some crazy mother-of-fountain-pen binding to the neck and body. You’ll find that the workmanship on this guitar is far above anything else anywhere near the price point, powered by Imperial’s meticulous work and attention to detail. It will come to you after being professionally set up in the Imperial Valley Guitar Co. workshop and ready to play.

Not bad for the price
Outside finish is really nice. Tone was a bit muted. Lows were really weak and the highs had an annoy fuzz to them. Finally got around to replacing the cone with a National hot rod cone. Found that the inner sound ring was really unfinished, bad enough that it gave me splinters. An hour of careful sanding took care of that. The saddle is a two piece that looks like compensation was attempted. Replaced with the saddle that came with the new cone. It really rings now. Lows are strong and thumpy. Highs sing out. So, with a little careful work this is a good bargain resonator.

Overall very nice guitar, quality and sound
Overall very nice guitar, quality and sound. Aesthetically beautiful. What bothers me is that on the back of the neck I can feel lots of tiny bumps from either hardened glue or finish (I don’t know) and that there was a small scratch on the chrome cone when I received it. Quality-wise, the guitar sounds great to me, a non-professional when it comes to music and especially to resonator guitars. It's great that it comes with a nice quality case as well. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

Looks good, sounds good!
This Dobro has a great sound, great volume, and look amazing. The trim looks like tigers eye (the gem stone) and really does complement the tigers eye maple. Case is of good construction and quality. I thought the price was good also. No issues with seller or shipping. Recommend.
