Garden Planning
An excellent book if you need help with planning your garden and want good "how to" details on the work involved. Building walls, steps, pools, and many other garden constructs as well as designing the layout and how to draw a plan.

Handy, practical guide to design and construction principles
The title is pretty much self-explanatory and this book will be useful for anyone planning a new or re-vamped garden. The first eighty or so pages look at the planning & design process with plenty of information on the principles of design illustrated with examples of garden layouts and features showing the impact of different design choices. This also covers the practical issues of different sites and locations and how this impacts the design choices e.g. how to deal with windy sites.Thereafter, the book looks at the practical aspects of construction e.g. choice or materials, drainage issues plus guidance on 'how to' construct typical garden features e.g. fencing, decking, gates, steps. There are some aspect that are a little outdated now: for example, the method of constructing a soakaway uses a rubble filled hole whereas it is more common now to use one of the cellular systems. Nonetheless, this is a very handy practical guide and well worth having if you are making changes to your garden on a DIY basis or want to have an idea of what your contractor is doing.

more photos, please
There are plenty of drawings, but not enough photos - makes the book a bit dreary.
