Girl, Illustrated: Japanese Manga, Anime and Video Game Characters

I didn't necessarily know what to expect due to it's print date being 2010, but it seems mostly do do with the limitations of digital art. I got it used for quite a good price and here are a few things I noticed:The print is a bit muted, as in it lacks the contrast and vibrancy you would see from newer prints.The painting on skin tones and shadings can tend to look a bit "flat."For me, it seems to be a limitation of digital art at the time, and most of the artists used photoshop. I say this because the few artists that used paper/pencil/paint as their main medium seemed to do a vastly better job on their pieces. I have also used old drawing tablets from many years ago, and those things are horrible to use. The drawing tablets you get now are 100x better than what they probably had them. As the technology advance, so did the art, so I attribute it to that. There was less detailing on particular images indicating to me that there was a lack of layers in photoshop, and they were probably on limited computers, low ram, and low resolutions.Taking this all in consideration, this is a good book to keep if you're getting a really low price, and want something to put on the shelf that you can browse occasionally.The styles are a bit more dated

a very good book i use it for reference as its filled with many artist. all with very different styles so it is very helpful as a reference. most artist have links to their websites so they will have more material for you to look at. softack with a dust cover so be prepared to protect your investment. if you are on a budget tho and will only be purchasing one artbook, i would not make this this the one.

This was a great art book from a lot of wonderful artists. This book shows how much diverse talent there is in the world with original characters instead of drawing things like "fanart". It also gives a fair share to each genre, you will see a lot of fantasy, a lot of slice of life, and a couple bits of art genres that I never paid too much attention too like Gothic and traditional Japanese art.

Took forever to get here but I was really glad it came. A nice anthology of different styles.

Just like my header says it is FILLED with images for inspiration and awe-struck.I loved the pictures and it really made me want to jump up and try my hardest at my art!I recommend to anyone with serious artist block or just want to try something different with their art and needs some ideas~Not a tutorial book but still awesome :3

This book of illustrations is great, and does exactly what it says on the tin, as they say. It's pictures of girls from Japanese anime, manga and computer games. It's a great size and the layout is very good (even though some of the pictures are a bit small).My only real criticism with this book is that the pictures don't get an individual explanation or note from the artist. You're left not knowing the names of the pictures, what they're from, what the artist was thinking or why they drew the picture in the first place.However, this is only a minor annoyance and doesn't ruin the book. If you're a fan of bishoujo artwork then buy with confidence, is what I would say.

I saw this book at a convention last year, never thought it would be available at Amazon, glad it is as I finally own it. Page after page of top quality art from Japan and Korea with website and artist info. Smaller than 100 Bishojo Masters, but just as good, along with top quality printing as always with books in this caliber. Each artist in this book has a small selection on the left side of the page and alarger picture on the right of 1 of their pictures.I was initially interested in this art book because I love anime pictures and collectmany art books.A lot of the chosen artists from this book are on Pixiv.net also.Many different styles by many artists of females.-The downside is, some pictures are small, especially when quite a few contain so muchdetail in them. I would have thought they would have received a bigger version of more of their art.-After collecting many art books, I've noticed repeat artwork in many of them, and you may be put off by that fact, but there will be even more you haven't seen.All in all it's a worthy book for your art collection, if anime is your taste!And you don't mind a few works' you've seen before!

Ja hollo Allerseits,:] Man ist zunächst vom Preis erschlagen, doch man bekommt ein gut verarbeitetes Buch, mit Hochwertigem Papier.Es kam unversehrt bei mir an, weder Bucheinschlag noch das Book selbst waren in irgendeiner weiße Beschädigt.Es hat wohlgemerkt 208 Seiten, ist also kein Dünnes büchelchen, sondern hat die Fülle eines Taschenbuches, und bringt Prallgefüllte Farb-aktion mit sich!;) Schönes Buch, man gönnt sich eben mal was aber XD 28€ haben sich hier schon irgendwo gelohnt, auch wenn es nicht schlimm wäre, wenn diese Bücher einen kleinen Preissturz erleben würden ;DLiebe grüße!!!
