Pond Plant Taro, Black Magic

What an awesome looking plant! I have ordered a few plants from Amazon building up my tropical garden, and this was the best packaged of all of them! I live in Arizona, so this seller included an ice pack with the plant to prevent it from cooking during transit. This plant arrived with two strong root systems and no leaf damage at all! 5 stars from the packaging and the plant quality upon arrival! I will be ordering more from this seller in the future.I immediately planted this in a 3 gallon container, and moved it to my greenhouse. Well apparently the 105 degree heat was a bit much for this little guy, but thankfully I noticed the heat damage that day. I moved them indoors until this week when we got a ton of rain the last couple days where I had them soaking it in. This type of Calocasia loves water, and overnight both trunks of these started to sprout a new leaf. Once they get a bit more established, I will move them to a heavier vermiculite and a little bit of peet or sphagnum moss to help retain more moisture. Also, once the plants fully recover from the heat damage, I'll update this review with pictures.

I was a little unsure about ordering a delicate plant online, but this lovely little taro arrived in great shape. The seller packaged it with an ice pack and insulation pad to protect it against the heat of summer and even though the post office left it in my mailbox in the sun (despite the fact that the box was clearly labeled not to) the plant was fine. As expected, it wilted a little with planting but within 24 hours I saw a new leaf sprouting up. It has been planted 4 days in the photo and is doing great. I love the substantial amount of soil that was included and the net helped keep the roots from shock. I would buy from this seller again in a heartbeat!

Beautiful healthy plant. Came with 3 or 4 leaves already but I guess the shock of being put in the pond was too much and each one started dying so I just cut them all of and new ones grew back. They're doing great. I also added a fertilizer stick about 2 weeks ago. I can't wait till they get big enough to help shade the pond.

If you're looking for Black Magic, this is your seller. Packaged so carefully! Absolutely no damage to the plant or roots. It comes in a basket-type nursery pot, just around the roots and I appreciate how easy it was to cut the pot off without damaging the rootball. Will definitely buy from this seller again!

This plant was well packaged and arrived quickly. The plant is alive and looks better than the picture.
