The fine print on the CD case states this release has no association with the Zappa estate-It further notes this set was "Produced,Mastered and Manufactured in the Czech Republic",where Zappa was revered as a genius during his life-This set is nicely packaged and seems to be sourced from radio and TV broadcasts-The sound quality ranges from decent to excellent and the shows are fantastic with lots of great Zappa guitar solos-I see a lot of bootleg Zappa on Amazon these days,as well as legitimate ZFT releases at decent prices that used to be overpriced on the Zappa website-I assume this reflects Ahmet Zappa's business decisions which are making it easier to afford to be a Frank Zappa fan,therefore more legit Zappa will be sold-Some "reviews" here say you can download all this music for free on the Zappateers site: Free is Good,but if you're wary of downloading like I am this is a great deal at $15 for a 4-disc set-I like this set and I'm glad I bought it!

Excellent for the serious fan
The sound quality is a bit dodgy at times, but overall this set is very listenable and contains numerous jaw-dropping solos by FZ.

Can't beat the value!!
Good quality on all discs. Some shows are available in complete form on other labels, but the selections here are the ones I would have chosen for a single disc compilation. A handful of rare tracks/arrangements make this a must have for fans, not to mention the unbeatable price!! You will not be disappointed.

Coffret magnifique
N'en déplaise à certains, ce coffret représente très bien l'œuvre de Zappa durant ces 15 années de scène ! Toujours exigeant avec ses (superbes) musiciens qui l'ont accompagné durant tous ces concerts ! Bien sûr, ces enregistrements proviennent sans doute d'enregistrements pirates édités (enfin) récemment...où est le problème ? Nulle part ! Frank Zappa est grand ! Merci pour ce coffret !

Ich verstehe die Leute immer weniger (meine Vor-Rezensenten). Es liegt hier nichts anderes vor als relevante Zusammenstellungen verschiedener Zappa-Konzerte vergangener Jahre. Ihr solltet mehr als dankbar sein, dass der Mitschnitt des Konzertes von 1975 mit Captain Beefheart jetzt als reguläre CD vorliegt statt diese Aufnahme als Bootleg zu verteufeln. Eine bessere Aufnahme von "The Torture Never Stops" ist m. E. nie eingespielt worden und diese kann man jetzt offiziell erwerben: seit mal froh darüber! Der Titel dieser Zusammenstellung ist absolut richtig: hier sind legendäre Aufnahmen: New York Halloween 1981, Rohde Island 1975 mit Captain Beefheart (!!!!), Rotterdam 1981 (mit dem Illinois Enema Bandit) und Rarities im Wesentlichen mit einer Superaufnahme aus Passaic 1978. Es kommt überall die Live-Atmosphäre rüber und wenn ihr alle unbedingt trauern wollt, dann darüber, dass Ihr alle diese Konzerte nicht gesehen habt.
