A subject that needs constant updating
We bought this latest version after finding an earlier version, hoping that it would answer some of our current questions. It is a good source for many questions you might have, although somewhat repetitious. For us, we didn't get answers to our questions about asset-funded long-term care policies. An agent has been trying to sell us this newer option. We are in our 70s and never contributed to a LTC policy when rates were tolerable. Now with encroaching health issues, we find the examples and issues around LTC products in this book don't really work for us. Should we take money from our 401K to buy an annuity to fund LTC? This is a rapidly-changing area as the population ages. Retirement communities also now offer packages to help with the move, getting rid of possessions, and selling your house. Hard to sort out all the options objectively.

A lot of useful details
This book helps some who is beginning to make long term health care decisions. This book addresses the needs of the person who needs the care as well as their caretakers. The book includes significant amount of information on financial aspects of long term care from home care, reverse mortgages, insurance policies, medicare, medicaid. It has a chapter Alzheimer. From symptoms to stages to the care that might be needed at every stage. For caretakers the book discusses the rules that requires employees to give workers up to 12 weeks a year of unpaid leave to take care of a child, spouse, or parent with a health condition.I found this book very helpful.Ali Julia review

More objective than from the insurance seller's perspective
Excellent resource that gives many options for help with medical needs. It is NOT a pitch to buy "long term care insurance," though it does cover this topic which might be appropriate for some people. My elderly mother is presently in a long term care facility and this book would have been helpful had I known about it. Instead, I spent five years going to a caregivers support group & finally going to an Elder Law attorney. I recently bought the book to better plan for my own future needs and then was comfortable with the decision to NOT buy "long term care insurance" for myself. Only other advice is that once you read the book, don't overlook the value of going to a really good Elder Law attorney in the state you live in so as to not make mistakes as different states handle Medicaid differently.

Above average
I would give this book 3 1/2 stars if I could. It had some good parts but there seemed like there were too many chapters that could have been easily shortened.
