My 2 year old daughter loves the English version of brown bear brown bear. So I'm trying to expose her to French.( I am not fluent but I took six years of French. Using children's books is helping me resurrect my comfort with the language.) After reading it to her in French the same way I read it in English I was thrilled when my daughter brought me the book to read. I assumed she wanted to hear it in English first as we usually begin. But she insisted I read it "en Francais"!

A great way to teach french to a young child
We got this bok because we are trying to teach our 5 yr old some basic French. This book is great for colors and animals and the repetitive nature of the ryhmes make it easy for the child to learn. Since she knew and loved the english version, this was a great wya to learn some french.I recomend this with Bonsoir Lune (Goodnight Moon), Devine Combien Je t' Aime (Guess How Much I Love You) andLa Chenille Qui Fait Des Trous (The Very Hungry Caterpillar). These are books your child already know by heart and are a great way to introduce a second language to your young child.

Ours brun, dis-moi
I read that book for the first time to my French-speaking 2yo daughter via Skype. For once, I got her to stay in front of the webcam instead of watching her running all over the room. This is also the book that kept her sitting on the potty during training. She knows it by heart now. She already knew her colors and all the animals pictured in it when I bought it, but I believe the vivid illustrations would teach these things very well to a younger child.

Fun story
"Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?" This book is just as much fun in French as it is in English, and the translation is spot on. Perfect for a young French-speaking child learning to read or who likes to be read to. One caution, I purchased this book as a paperback so it might not hold up to a toddler as well as a board book might.

As good as the original.
Wonderful Eric Carle book. Works just as we'll in the French version. Our grandson is 18 months old, currently living in France, so this was one of several books I got for him to help develop his bilingual vocabulary. The language is simple enough, and I am familiar enough with the English version, that we both enjoyed reading it.

Greatfor the elementary French classroom!
I have used this book successfully in the classroom several times now. It is simple and repetitive enough for even little children to predict and use to learn colors and animals. I use it with older kids to show how the color comes after the noun. It also works well for teaching because the end serves as a great review of the book. Highly recommended.

A huge hit!
I purchased the English version of this book for my son and daughter and law to read to my grandson. Of course it was a monster hit. I decided to purchase the French version and oh my goodness, it was a monster hit as well. I can always tell the popularity of a book because my grandson hands them to me, and this one he hands to me over and over. I cannot count the times I have read it, must be hundreds of times by now. He loves both the French and English versions of this book. My son and daughter in law have asked me to help my grandson learn French and I have been choosing French books to read to him. It was the success of this book that encouraged me to find other books which have been translated so that he can hear both the English and the French versions.

Perfect size for little readers.
Purchased for my kids at home library. They attend french immersion but I have a hard time finding any french books. Kids love it and it's easy enough for them to read to us:)
