Safe for Indoor Roasting Marshmallows--No Smoke, No Smell, and No Problems!
This Sternos are great. We used them for roasting marshmallows indoors. They burned hot enough and did not create any odd taste of flavor on the marshmallows. They were easy to light and extinguish, and the outside of the can says when it is hot and cools down quickly.SUMMARY OF REVIEW:Pro - hot enough for marshmallow roasting;Pro - did not create smoke or odd smell or flavor;Pro - can be used indoors safely, as they did not spark, send out embers or flares, etc;Pro - easy to light;Pro - easy to extinguish;Pro - warning label lets you know when it is too hot to touch;Con - left dishes in the sink.REVIEW:We used this to roast marshmallows indoors and this was a great option. We did research and found this was a non-toxic heat source and it did not create any adverse smell or taste on the roasted marshmallows. The flame was high enough and hot enough that two of us could roast side-by-side, but the flame was not high enough that we were worried it could ignite something next to it. There was no debris or flares that shot out, and there was no uncontrolled burn. It did not create any smoke (unless the marshmallow got burned). Easy to light, easy to extinguish. The label says when it is hot too. We burned it for about an hour or so, and it still has more than half the waxy substance in it.While we only intended to use this for marshmallows, I am glad that it came in a three pack. These would be great camping, hiking, or kayaking--particularly when you stop for a picnic, this could easily heat up your food. By the time you are done eating, it would be cool to pack away. We will certainly take this along with us hiking or kayaking. I am also a fisherman, so I will keep one in my tackle box for starting fires to cook fish.I did see that a suggested use was during power outages as a source of light and heat. While it would be great for heat to cook, I would not trust this as a source of light unless you were hovering around it. It is still an open flame and, while there were no flare ups, the flame is concentrated and very hot (blue flame). One little mistake--or if it is tipped over--could easily create a fire. This is not to say that they are unstable, because they are fairly stable for the small size/base.CONCLUSION:Strongly recommend to roast marshmallows inside, keep in case of an emergency to heat up food, or for hiking/fishing/kayaking. It was easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to light and extinguish.

Works as Advertised
Took it on a camping trip to the Dry Tortugas and it worked like it’s supposed to. I did have a moment where I placed the lid on to put out the fire and although I thought I put the lid on tight enough - after a few seconds the lid was blown off. Kind of a startle.

I catered an event last night and had a make your own s'mores station featuring my Kentucky Bourbon Gourmet Marshmallows. This sterno worked great! Perfect size for the cute bowls I used them in. I'll post a picture though you'll have to look at the far end of the table to see the bowls they're in.

Best Sterno for Safety
I bought these Sterno Cooking Fuel cans for my S'more maker after trying to use regular sterno cans. I thought I would be saving money using the regular cans but they just concentrated the fire strangely and wound up burning the grate. They also didn't allow more than one person at a time to toast the marshmallows. These cans are perfect, they fit nicely into the holder and they disburse the fire evenly. Four of us were able to each sit there and toast our marshmallows. I really loved that this is a gel and I can reuse it, so after each of us made a S'more, we were able to cap the can and have it ready to go next time. All in all, this can is the correct size to keep it safe under my S'more maker. You get three cans that last from 45 minutes to over two hours. The main reason for me though is the safety of that this Sterno brand provides.

Came late, delivery delayed, never got to use in freezing weather but...
I did get to buy the larger version at a store before my camping trip. They are the same everything except this was the larger 2 pack one. I thought this would be a good thing to use to boil water inside my Stanley steel cup pot thing. However I did not have a stove I could use so I literally had to hold it over the fire made from this thing. Keep in mind this was the larger one. I never got my water to boil, if anything it only became lukewarm. It is kind of a feat in itself because the weather I was in was 30°F the night before at 7 pm and my tent had ice form on it that still remained in the morning when I tried to use this. Still wasn’t hot enough to make a cup of tea or freeze dried food meal. However compared to the old sterno‘s with those wicks, this has slightly more use to me as I dipped my firestarter fuel pack into the sterno gel and used that to set it ablaze. This was actually necessary because the ground was soaked from the freezing rain the night before and when I was trying to light this firestarter it wouldn’t stay lit. The fire starter was one of those small barbecue starters that burn for about 15 minutes, and has instructions to light the paper wrapping on fire to start it. Keeping one of these around can turn kindling into small fire starter fuel packs. I can imagine using these inside controlled environments to effectively keep something heated or warm, however use on the field in really cold weather trying to boil about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of water in a pot with a diameter slightly bigger than the flame output proves to be a trying and fruitless task. This was not a life or death situation for me as my car was literally next to my tent, but I will strongly consider keeping one of these inside my pack as a back up fire starter kit. The delay was unfortunate as my insulation pad was supposed to come with this one too but that was on the courier. If you plan to bring this on camping excursions, consider highly on keeping a sterno stove on hand as well because the wind made it a very difficult factor to use this fuel pack effectively.

Works like every other can of Sterno I have used
Works great, perfect size for the Hershey's Smore Roaster I am using this for. Gives off good heat and lasts a long time. Still on the first can and have used the roaster 4 times. Looks as full as the first time we used it.
