Cowgirls: Women of the Wild West

It's perfect for my purpose. A great book.

I bought this book for a friend who is a avid fan of anything from the Wild West.She absolutely loves this book and can't stop raving about it.

I enjoy the vintage photos of authentic American cowgirls; many are of-the-moment, and almost all show authentic gear and clothing. Rodeos and Wild West shows play a major role because, I suppose, that's where you could find these women in numbers. There is one cheesecake pinup that is completely out of character with the rest of the book, and I wonder why the editors included something so out of place. Also included are a couple of nice studio photos of Hollywood cowgirls -- Dale Evans [along with husband Roy Rogers] and one minor actress whose name I forget. [Barbara Stanwyck and Linda Gray would have been fun to have in that mold.]I deducted one star for the paper stock quality; it is quite thin and flexible. Am not sure how well it will stand up to rigorous international mail systems -- have sent one out, so perhaps I'll get feedback on that soon.

O.K. graphics, interesting to Old West fans, but the cardstock itself is flimsy & I don't feel real confident sending these through the mail. Maybe domestically, but not internationally.

I collect Flood's books. They touch a certain spot in the heart for lover's of the West. Cowgirl's is wonderful and you will find yourself looking for clothing to emulate their style. Pure pleasure.

This book is the best ever compilation on the subject of women in the old west, real working cowgirls, show girls, hollywood cowgirls, etc. fabulous pictures and stories... this IS the best reference book on this subject currently available...my only complaint would be of a personal nature, and that is I wish it had more on the bad girls of the wild west era... they only elaborated on three, Calamity Jane, Belle Star, and Pearl Hart.

This is my second time purchasing this booklet of Cowgirl Postcards. Cheaper on the internet than it was in the store the first time I bought them. I love the picture of Prairie Rose Henderson and cowgirl bronc rider at Penelton Round-Up, both are included in the set.
