STAR TREK THE OFFICIAL GUIDE TO OUR UNIVERSE

This book is more than an inch thick. The description made it sound like a star gazing companion, but it is so much more. I thought I would be lead me through the stars that the Enterprise visited, but instead of finding Riker's favorite Rigel system, this book talks about the stellar phenomena like nebula, dwarf and giant stars and then does two things with the information. Firstly, it talks about Star Trek episodes that involved a nebula, dwarf or giant star. Then secondly, it has instructions on how we can see one for our selves in the night sky. Finally, the planets of our system are discussed with Star Trek episodes involving our planets and the map of the zodiac showing where and when to find them.

Hours of reading and entertainment, looking forward to starting all over again

Oh my....this book was so good. Well thought out and a fan favorite.

もちろん、宇宙に関する知識がSTAR TREKを織り交ぜつつ、興味深く書いてあり、教科書的に楽しむことが出来ます。日本語版もありますが、なにより英語版の方が、英語の勉強になりますし、より真髄に迫る的な感じもします。秋の夜長、枕元に積んでます。

patiti di star trek e non si aspettavano un succedaneo di "La fisica di Star Trek" (Krauss): quello sì, un ottimo libro, serio, che svela - talvolta ironicamente, spesso scientificamente - il sottile limte tra la "science" e la "fiction".Oggi l'attesa era tantissima, vuoi anche per l'anniversario, vuoi per l'edizione di National Geografic...Quest'ultimo risponde appieno alle aspettative per la bellezza delle foto.Il testo, invece, è molto autoreferenziale e... scientificamente banale.Una operazione commerciale, molto (troppo) attesa.Però, in fondo, sono molto soddisfatto: è un libro-evento che non può mancare nella biblioteca di un trekker.
