Book review - Big Bully and M-Me
Posting it on behalf of my 9 year old who received it under a reading campaign by a reading community Kids Book Café."Book : Big Bully and MeAuthor: Aarti SonathliaIllustrated by: Sebin SimonAge group: 6-10 yearsThe book cover says it all.A nice read to understand bullying at school and how to face it. The story is about a boy named Krish who stammers and lacks confidence. Since he is bullied, he is not very keen on participating in any events happening at school. Things change for him when he has to participate in an extempore speech competition and his partner is the biggest bully of the class. The story ends in a beautiful way when Krish manages to stand out and performs very well. One thing which I learnt from the book is that we should never underestimate ourselves and keep growing 😊The book has short chapters and is very easy to read. I liked the illustrations as it makes it interesting to read the book."

A must buy!!
Thank you 'Kids books Cafe' for running the KeepCalmAndReadOn 2020 campaign and sending us this lovely Duckbill Hole book by Arti Sonthalia as a prize. As the title suggests it's a story about a boy who stammers and gets bullied at school. That he is also short and skinny makes things worse for him on the playground.Things seem to go for a toss when the bully and the bullied come together as partners for an extempore speech competition at school. However there is a twist in the story, one that will show kids that what appears to be weak can be really strong, that there is more to people than what our eyes can see, there is a fighter in all of us, we just need to believe in ourselves. For the younger ones(6-7years), an adult can read with them or definitely discuss the book once the child is done reading, so they understand these finer points.I believe it is a topic that all kids and parents must be sensitised to. The support that parents, teachers and classmates can be, for kids who face such issues, cannot be underestimated. The chapters are kept short, the illustrations are really nice, the characters and plot are what every school going child will identify with.

Must Buy Book on Self Confidence and Empathy
We won this book in a reading campaign by a reading community kids book cafe. My son loved it in the first reading itself, well he finished it in under 15 mins. So there have been reading and re-reading sessions. This books teaches you two concepts self confidence and empathy. The protagonist in this story is a boy named Krish who stammers. There is an extempore in his school in which he gets paired with the biggest bully in his class Ishaan. Due to his stammering he is already low on confidence and getting paired up with bully does no good. Also his brother, Bheem has always been an achiever. Krish tries all ways possible to avoid participating. He realizes that everybody has weakness, even his brother who is an achiever gets nervous during competitions. His mother tells him that whenever she felt low she used to say "I can, I can ,I can" to boost herself. Suddenly he feels less nervous and more confident. This book is must buy if you are looking for books on building self confidence. This book also teaches empathy, though it is about bullying you end up empathizing with the bully.Author has used very simple language, realistic examples and conveyed the message so appropriately that it directly touches your heart. We loved the Book and yes we are going to read it zillion trillion times. Looking forward to more books from the Author.

Unique Concept by an Indian author- # STOPBULLYING !
Big Bully And M-me was a great read for my younger brother who is six years of age. While reading the book aloud to him i could see the changes of expressions on his face and every moment i had felt i had done a great thing to buy this book. This book touches subjects of Bullying and the disability of stammering in a touching manner. sensitive subjects have been handles with humour and still an underlying message is loud and clear. It is bound to entertain kids of most ages and shall be with them for a long time.

Awesome book!!
When i first picked the book i thought the book was all about bullying, i was amazed to see an Indian writer take up an issue of stammering.Krish the main protagonist stammers and he has to give a speech in school, he is clubbed up with the biggest bully of the class Ishaan. Krish's character stands out as a strong character in which we see him grow through the book. Initially he is scared to speak, he is conscious of his weakness of stammering, but slowly he realises that Everyone has a weakness. This realisation makes him a character of strength, an idol, and provokes in a feeling in which the author makes you realise that there is nothing that you can't do.The author has used simple language but has weaved in small intricacies that makes the book stand out. When i read this to my younger son he couldn't wait for me to finish the book. He loved the character Green, who is Krish's best friend. And my older son who is seven couldn't keep the book down. His first reaction was "this is my favourite book!" I am glad i bought the book and am looking forward for more books by the same author.I will highly recommend this book to all.The only thing I felt could be improved was the quality of papers used in the book !!
