Sony HT-S500RF Real 1000w Dolby Audio Soundbar for TV with Rear Speakers & Subwoofer Home Theatre System (Bluetooth Connectivity, HDMI & Optical Connectivity, USB Playback).

I was planning to buy HTS40r and came across this model. I had short listed Samsung B670 also following many reviews online. So here is my honest review.I tested out all the 3 speakers at showroom before buying. I had even almost booked for the HTS40 rs by paying partial amount at shop and cancelled it after hearing the audio from it. HTS40 and other newer models come with a cheaper Subwoofer that doesnt even look professional. You can feel the quality by just tapping on the speaker body. 500RF uses a more quality material and it looks premium. Even the speakers look premium with the mesh design compared to Samsung and Hts40r.--- Sound quality ---B670 was more of treble with less bass. 500RF is less treble with more bass. And HTS40r sounded the worst. Audio clarity was way too poor. I felt like my tv speakers are better than that.---- Cons of 500 RF ------ It has some fan sound when speaker heats up- High electricity usage- Its completely wired. You will have to draw the wires to rear speakers through your wall. Sony installation team doesnt install through pipes. You have to do it urself- Rear speaker wire is just 10 M, which may not be sufficient for many.--- Notes ---- To get the best audio quality, if you are using a cheap TV like me, buy an additional Apple TV to get the best audio quality. or go for a Sony tv next time u upgrade tv. I use Xiaomi QLED tv at home and this speaker didn't sound like a premium speaker until i added a Apple TV box to the system- You might need an additional SPDIF cable as many TVs donot support HDMI Dolby digital audio even though they write so in the specs. I was able to connect this to TV via HDMI ARC, but the audio was sterio only. Go for the Amazon basics cable over a cheap local one.-Install the speakers around you in proper positions to get the effect- Dont expect a superb experience like theater with regards to surround sound. Most of the movies online have very bare 5.1 audio effects. mostly its some bgm that rotates thru the rear speakers. Most of the time rear speakers will be off.- The volume levels are not too much. Because most speakers does the best job in 60-80 % volume and this ones 60% volume is just enough for a big room. So its not too over powered or earth shattering. Also dont expect much from a 6.5 inch woofer.

After a long and detailed analysis, I decided to buy this home theater system for my house. It's a fantastic product from Sony with superb build quality and immersive surround sound. The bass level is extraordinary indoors. The installation was also well-handled in Trichy. Overall, I am very happy to have bought this at a price of 30k, including card and festival discounts.

I am not going to write a technical review, others with more knowledge can do that. What I am going to do is relate my experience of the system.It arrived very well packaged by the manufacturer.Rajeer from Sony did an excellent job on installation his work cannot be faulted. Even struggling to make the system work with my PC (non-standard quite powerful) he overcame any added problems. Concerning installation two minor complaints, the speaker wires are not long enough to reach a back wall 3.9 x 4 m room. Fixing along the walls to reach the furthest speaker position was not possible. Also the cooling fan wasn't running when I enquired from Rajeer why not he told me that the system had to heat up before it would run.From the moment we turned it on we have done nothing but play music for two days. We are both retired and have a music collection going back to the 30s. 6 TB of storage. It is wonderful to hear music filling the room, ringing highs and floor trembling sub woofer. It gives tremendous quality with no distortion or vibration at any volume. Do not be put off by the 1000 W label we run our system now at probably 50 to 60% most of the time for music. For TV speech is crisp and clear. This system even when taken to its highest volume with the sub woofer on maximum maintains the quality and clarity that epitomizes its performance across all ranges. If you like techno or hard rock crank it up welcome to the nightclub! A full orchestra is amazing to listen to.Absolutely love this system and would highly recommend it for its quality and value.
