Very nice, blackens steel (not stainless steel)
I have used this to re-blue knives after scuffing them during sharpening. Also after de-rusting old Victorian handcuffs to give them a water-resistant darker finish after knocking off it's original thick blotchy patina.Wear disposable gloves and eye protection.....

Easy to use Gun Blue.
The reason why I purchased this product was to put a dark finish onto the discoloured metal hand wheels on my lathe. You have to clean the metal parts very well so that they are "pristine" with no grease, oil or any other contaminants. The gun blue was applied with a paint brush and produces results within a few seconds. The parts have to be washed in water, dried and the process repeated to produce a more intense colour. Works very well for my application. Would I recommend it, yes I would but I am unable to comment if it is used for anything else.

Used to blue clock hands
Good product - well packed - arrived on time - did the job.Easy to use and gave a great finish I used it to blue clock hands on a clock I was repairing.Read the instructions and follow the safety guidance this is a dangerous chemical and needs treating with caution.

Does NOT work on stainless steel
Originally, I bought it to blue a product that was made from stainless steel. I did read the instructions and followed them to the letter. Nothing changed. I did notice that all of the other chemicals found on Amazon did not work on stainless, therefore, I took a chance to see if this product would work. It did not.I'm sure it's great on regular steel-- it just did not work on my project. It could've been a bit more open as to what metals it works with.

the best yet
i have tried every cold bluing product that i can buy.some good, some not worth a dime.depending on what "color" of blueing you desire, this stuff is great..i work on a lot of belgium brownings and this produces an extremely close match to factory new.the best way i have found to apply is to heat the metal, and apply using 4/0 steel wool.let it sit and keep applying heat.sometimes i apply more.you will be able to see it work.wait a few minutesthen neutralize with Rem oil and rub again with 4/0 steel wool

super produit notice en anglais mes bon je vais vous expliquer comment jai fait bien poncer le canon le dègraiser a l essence ou autre en suite apliquer une premiére couche avec un pinceau laisser sécher jusque ça devienne couleur rouille 30 min environ puis poncè avec de la paille de fer trés fine sans appuiyer pratiquement moi jai fait avec du 0 rèpèter l opèration 3 \4\5 fois si besoin et pour finir la derrniere couche passer un coup d huile pour canon et la le canon neuf apparait comme d origine vidèo sur you tube a plus les bricoleurs
