Not what I was expecting
This what not what I was expecting. I ended up sending it back. The whole book was just recipes for plants found in the forest. Nothing at all about foraging or what to look for at all. Disappointed.

Useless book
For a book about foraging with kids, where one needs to be absolutely sure about what plants to find, i was very dissappointed that the pictures of the plants were trace sketches in black and white!! Useless book and shame on the author and publishers who thought that foraging wild plants should be a guessing game. Would return if i could.

Great content-no color
Love it....disappointed pictures weren’t in color...especially for a foraging book where color could help w identification.

Not useful for foraging
Cute book but all of the pictures are black and white drawings, no color or photos that would be very helpful for proper plant identification. I also didn’t see regional info so not even sure what plants I can find in my particular area. If I have to search the internet for pictures and regions, then it’s not very useful as a foraging book. As a recipe book, it seems it would be helpful but that’s not why I purchased it...

Better books out there
I was just overall disappointed by this book. The entire thing is black and white, and there are no photos. I couldn't really use this safely without using another book or the internet.

Fun and informative
I originally found this book in the library and was so intrigued that I had to muy my own for home and my kids. I love how detailed it it and we’re already learning so much!

A bit disappointing
I was excited to see this book to help encourage my kids to find edible plants. The black and white drawings aren’t the best representation of what to look for and I felt the descriptions and amount of edible plants to be a little lacking.

For older kids, but very cool!
This book is very cool! The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I didn’t pay attention when I bought it, and didn’t realize it was geared more toward the adult or older child. I will use some of the recipes with my 4 year old for sure, but it’s not a book she really wants to browse. Otherwise- I love it!

Black and white pictures
As a beginner I was hoping to use this book with my children and learn all about foraging, however all the pictures are in black and white. Not at all what I expected and it won’t make it easy for a beginner to work out what’s what. Will be returning the book

Good, but lacks proper pictures/photographs
I really like this book and can't wait to use it with my daughter. The only downside is that none of the illustrations are in colour or photographic- which is so important with foraging and learning how to forage! Seeing colour, shades and detail is crucial when knowing what you're picking and if it's safe. Luckily as an experienced forager I can substitute the lack of decent pictures with other books and my knowledge.Other then that the book is quite good and very readable for kids

Our family LOVE this book! Inspiring and informative.
Such a great book to inspire kids to get outside and then head into the kitchen. Beautifully illustrated and with a lovely chatty tone that will draw kids in but not patronise them and packed full of intriguing information. The recipes are great and clear to follow. You will have no problem at all identifying the plant you are looking for from the illustrations and most people will know them all anyway. There's nothing obscure. This is not a photograph ID book (if you really need one of those then Richard Mabey's collins gem food for free is a good companion purchase), it is much more than that. It's a book that our whole family has already got a lot of pleasure from and I'm sure we will for years to come.

Misleading title.
Really disappointed with this book. Adele Nozedars Hedgerow Handbook is one of my most favourite books ever so I was expecting great things from this and I really wanted to love it. The title of the book is misleading, it should be called Foraging FOR kids. The language throughout the book is quite patronising in places, even for kids and the pencil drawings (although beautiful) aren't that helpful, you couldn't rely on them to be able to identify plants so its a good job theres nothing in this book that you won't have already picked before. Buy The Hedgerow Handbook instead.
