Has Many Projects
This is a good book for those who want to devotee a great deal of time to ribbon embroidery and want to depict very realistic blossoms. This involves painting ribbons and fabrics with silk and fabric paints. The author explains in good detail how to do this. It mentions a website that was no longer available. This book goes into more detail than I expected but if you are interested in realistic flowers and don’t mind spending the time painting silk ribbons this is a good book. The projects are rated easy, medium and hard. You would need about six colours of each type of dye.

Exquisite examples of silk flowers
Stunning example of the use of silk ribbon floral embroidery. She has advanced beyond her previous work. There are instructions about materials and techniques such as silk painting as well as the floral stitches. Each flower is given two or more pages with a pattern for that flower exclusively. Most of us will never attempt these. Most flowers are embroidered in white ribbon, then painted on the fabric. This is complicated. I tried and ended up with silk paint all over the base. Ribbon tension is vital. You need a hoop that stands on its own, because each stitch takes 3 hands. Plan to put a million stitches into those lilacs! My only criticism is that I would have preferred to see some patterns for various arrangements consisting of different flowers into wreaths, bouquets, or sprays rather than the single flower patterns.

New rose patterns, different style!
In A to Z of Silk Ribbon Embroidery I found enough examples of different roses to finish a half completed project I have been working on. The roses in A to. Z are made differently than the original roses on my design chart. The book is wonderful and I'm pleased to learn the new technics.

Great book for enahncing silk ribbon flower embroidery!
This is an excellent book with more than needle working techniques. Background painting, design transfer, and different stitch uses are provided by the author. Author Ann Cox provides easy to follow step-by-step instructions that include needle art plus ribbon silk paint enhancements of ribbons to be used for embroidery. Hoops, frames, needles, paints, threads, ribbons and fabrics are thoroughly discussed and illustrated for the reader, too.I highly recommend this informative, visually appealing book that elevates silk ribbon flower embroidery to another level. Well worth the price paid for this book, as it will be used time after time. This one is a keeper! So are my other embroidery books by Ann Cox! The book arrived in great condition, quickly and was again, a delight to view, read and own. Thank you Amazon, for offering this great publication to your customers.

Painting silk ribbon is a highlight of this book
My interest in getting this book was to learn to paint silk ribbon. There was information about how to do this, yet no comparison showing some various methods mentioned--that is, acrylic fabric paints vs. silk seti fabric paints. I was able to find more information at a vendor's site. I have tried several of the silk ribbon stitching methods and found them to be first rate. There were some very interesting and new (to me) stitching methods. I would recommend this book if you wish to expand the versatility of silk ribbon.
