Great Fun for Anyone Who Loves Miniature Games!
Krosmaster Arena is based off of two of Ankama's online games series, Dofus and Wakfu. Both of these series were released in France, and have been slowly building up steam around the world. Aside from the Flash games, there are also graphic novels, and a great animated series based off of Wakfu that is currently streaming on Netflix.Krosmaster Arena is a turn-based arena combat game with miniatures. If you want to learn how to play the game first, you can play a simple Flash version at Ankama's site. It's a lot of fun, and the online version of the game plays exactly the same as the board game. The boxed set is a great value, especially on Amazon where you can save quite a bit over retail. The figures normally come in sets of 4 for $30, so getting 8 figures with a double sided game board, dice, and terrain for $60 is a pretty good deal!Other reviews have talked about the game and figures, and I have detailed my thoughts on some of them in another review. I really do want to stress, however, that these are some seriously great looking figures, and make for really unique collectibles. This is a really fun game, and I would recommend it for just about anyone. Some people might object to the "cheescake" factor of some of the female sculpts, but I think it's all pretty tame. Probably best for teenagers and adults who enjoy strategy games and need a break from the computer!

Better than expected
To start, this game is actually based off of an online game called Wak-Fu. I had played the online game before it had gone Pay-to-Play. This game is an awesome transition from PC to tapletop. The game plays like a tactical mini's game, similar to the likes of D&D minis, Heroclix, or Mageknight. The only issue I have is my completionist mindset, where I have to own all the figures or I go nuts :( But in all seriousness, my only two complaint with the game is the unit balance. Some figures are far superior to others, making teams completely imbalanced at times. And because of that, my second issue is that in order to achieve team balance, each player should own their own figures. Though I own every figure released today (Excluding promos), someone can get the short end of the stick because I don't have duplicates of the high powered figures. But, all in all, the game still earns a 5 stars. I love this game, I love the quality of the game components, and the figures look amazing each and every time I look at them. For other lovers of this game, look for the expansion that's coming out in March of 2014!

Great PvP game, unfortunate production snafu
My girlfriend and I first played Krosmaster at ACEN this year where we were pulled in by the beautiful artwork, adorable figurines, and unique PvP gameplay. Our first match was a long one, but as our individual strategies developed throughout the course of the game we found the end to be extremely close with my team just barely eking out a win. The art style is beautiful, the box holds all the parts perfectly, and the rulebook is interactive - Inside is a series of "minigames" designed to acquaint new players with different concepts, one at a time. This has been incredibly helpful to introduce new players to the game.My one issue is with production quality. The miniatures all feel very sturdy and well produced, but our box came with two broken minis - King of the Gobbals was no longer connected to his base, and Kassius Kaos' right eye was popped out of his skull. Luckily it seems the fix to these was to simply pop them back on, which worked fine. But our board came completely damaged. One of the edges of the board was ripped or torn, as if it had been dropped on the ground somehow. I play to reach out to the production company for a replacement.Otherwise, I'm very happy with the game and it has become one of our all-time favorites! Strategy, particularly regarding character choice, seems to be the biggest determinant of who wins and loses, and the only luck aspect are related to dealing or preventing extra damage to your characters. If you want a great PvP game with beautiful art and immersion that scales well from 2 to 4 players, definitely pick up this game!
