Valmiki's Ramayana

Bought for an upcoming course that requested this version. I listened to the short audio book first to gain a foothold on this impressive historical work.

The ramayan serials were such a memorable part of my childhood, finally decided to read the text version. Beautiful translation!!! Jai Shree Ram <3

The best translation of Ramayana ever written. The author has done a great justice to this extraordinary epic.The author is definitely empowered by the entities to write this.A work of truth.

When people ask me which Ramayana they should read, I always recommend this one. Sattar worked from the oldest texts she could find, and translated into readable English without imposing herself. Every other English Ramayana I've read has been a vehicle for the author/translator's own views and opinions. Sattar's is the clearest window to the ancient story for the modern Anglophone.

It’s very well-written. It brings this very complex story within reach of young readers, without trivialising it, and holding their interest right up to the end.

This book reads like a racy novel and for English-educated urbanites like me helps to grasp the epic with all its nuances. It is neither pulp fiction nor scholarly, neither myth nor folklore, just the facts as currently available after such a long passage of time. Just the right balance to help appreciate one of the greatest slices of Indian history.

The book takes us into this marvelous epic of Love/ War/ Renunciation, it's a full circle of Life and it's myriad unexpected events. Creatures of Circumstances. Glad ,there is this translation for English reader. True to Valmiki.
