HeatTrak HR-Wireless Remote Control Outlet and Switch for Snow Melting Mats, 120-Volt

Love it. Works great! All with the touch of a button from inside your home but it does have to be close to its control unit without any type of blockage to make the connection signal between the pointer on the remote control and the light on its mother unit. Works thru my kitchen window as long as I point it directly to the light on the control unit. I bought 3 residential heat mats last year from amazon and I didn't expect the doubling of my electric bill despite intermittent plugging and unplugging from the outside last winter. The mats were not left on 100% of the time (more like 60-70% of snowtime when needed) but my electric bill reflected summer air conditioning usage rates which was a sticker shock. So this year I purchased this remote control to cut down on the time the mats are left on to see if I could decrease the amount of energy it consumes.

We live in a climate with a lot of rain, which means a lot of ice when it gets cold. I've had a set of these heaters for about 8 years. I put them on the front steps when the first freeze is due, and leave them on all winter. They work very well, and the only problem I've encountered in all that time is that the control piece needed to be replaced after about 5 years.

This works as advertised and is saving us a lot of money. We just turn on our mats on our deck when they are covered with ice or snow, and turn them off again when the mats are clear and dry. We also turn them on when snow is expected in the next few hours. We probably run the mats (three large mats, seven stair mats) about 20% of the time now compared to just leaving them on all winter, and the pathway our dog needs to go down to his area stays nice and clear.

This remote operates about 10% of the time from a distance of 30 feet, through one window, clear line of sight. I'm very disappointed in itI'm revising this review, and increasing the rating, as the company promptly sent me a replacement which works much better.

I purchased the main pad, 3 step pads, and the remote power option. Could not be happier. Mats get plenty warm to ward off any snow or ice. Easy to install and my dog loves to lay on it while watching the property from outdoors!

Worked great at first. Three months in, stopped working with the remote. Replaced the battery in the remote no change. Still love the heat track mats.

Remote works great!I don’t need to point it at the transmitter box at the outlet to get it turned on.Saves me from having to go out onto our deck to plug the mats in! Love it!

Nice to melt the snow in the entryway without going outside!
