Kwikset 97402-572 Tustin Keyed Entry Lever for Garage or Office Door Handle Featuring SmartKey Security with a Traditional Design Entry Lever, Polished Chrome

The product was installed on the door going out to the garage. Overall, appears like a great product (Kwikset Tustin Entry Lever) and installed easy enough same day of delivery. However, original Kwikset package looked like it was a previous return. The original packaging barley held the levers and its contents in place and from falling out easily after removing the product from the intact loose fitted plastic packaging bag. There was no scratches or dents on the product itself. The product works as advertised (no issues) and the polished chrome levers is a great addition to our home.

I purchased this lever for my master bedroom door, simply so I could lock it to keep guest and kiddos out. I was very pleased with the look and weight of the lever. Installation should have been a breeze, but I ran into a complication which may have been a 1 in a million coincidence. After mounting the assembly, you're to place the inside level on and fasten it down with this small Allen head screw. One thing I found very odd is that it was reverse threaded. Lefty was tighty and righty was loosey. No big deal. The major problem came when the screw was too big to fit though hole on the lever so it could screw down into the inner assembly. I taped up the lever in painter's tape, to avoid scratching, and drilled out the hole to a slightly larger diameter. This wasn't good enough. The screw had a tiny lip at the end of it. It was as though the manufacturer had a bold mold were they poured the molten steel, and it created a tiny lip. I had to use my Dremmel to grind it down to match the diameter of the rest of the screw. It all worked out in the end, but it was still a pain having to do all of this for a relatively easy install. This is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5...EDIT: I realized my installation mistake when the 2nd set of levers came in with the same problem. The tiny allen head screw is suppose to stay on the center assembly mechanism. You are suppose to put the inside level on, stick the allen key through the hole, and back the screw out. As the screw backs out, it presses against the inside of the lever securing it to the center assembly...

Let me start by saying I love this product! It was so simple to key! I was afraid I’d have to call my locksmith father to help me key a lock, but this was incredibly easy and didn’t require me to use pins and springs! The instructions on what to do were crystal clear, and we were able to rekey the lock in about 1 minute. Seriously, 1 minute!The lever looks great, feels great, and is sturdy. I’m a big fan of Kwikset products for the value. The lever feels smooth, buffed, and adds a dash of elegance to the door. If you don’t want to spend the money on a locksmith to rekey the doors, use this, your old key, and key the lock yourself! Even if you wanted NEW keys, buy multiples, and key them all to one of the new keys you get with the lever. Brilliant product!

This handle has excellent fit and finish and is a fine complement to the Tustin dummy lever I installed on my bonus room. Instructions were clear and concise, and the provided template made installation foolproof.
