Lee's 10 Premium Undergravel Filter, 10-Inch by 20-Inch

The undergravel is possibly the most basic form of aquarium filtration. This undergravel does just that. It works. All you need is an air pump, gravel and that's it. Lay your gravel sloped, shallow towards the front and it will work. Hook up your air pump and enjoy. If you are setting up a new tank, keep in mind that the water may cloud up at first. After setting the tank up it may look fine and crystal clear. You go to bed only to wake up to a cloudy tank. It is not the fault of the filter. It may be new gravel that has not "cycled" with bennificial bacteria yet. You may have to use a bacteria promoter or a product like Tetra "SafeStart" which is available on Amazon or you can just let it cycle naturally to promote it's own bacteria bloom. The Lee's premium undergravel filter is effective and does promote excellent biological filtration.

Got a 25 gal show tank for free from my brother. He had a Tetra power filter but no undergravel filter. This wasn't a problem until the guppies started breeding. Now the Tetra power filter can't keep up. it was time for an undergravel filter.This set up from Lee is a very nice kit. It comes with everything you need to get started. The actual size is 9" x 18.5", 166.5 sq in. It even has a 3rd port so you can add a power filter for even greater filtering power. I only wish it came with better airstones. The ones it comes with, "DisgardAStones", are just that: temporary stones to get you going. I would replace them with good blue airstones your first water change if not from the start.Set up is very straight forward and there are detailed instructions are on the back of the box. I'll take a couiple of pictures so you can see and hopefully read them in advance.

I installed this kit in my 10 gallon aquarium, because I always notice that debris collects in the gravel, and it seems to have no way of getting out of there. My tank was in a constant state of haziness. The regular filter alone did not seem to be doing the trick. The fit was perfect, and the air stones do seem to move quite enough water to keep things moving through the filter assembly. The water turned crystal clear within a day and has stayed that way. I could not ask for more.

Set up A 10 gallon tank. It has fluval substrate at the bottom about 2 inches thick covered by small gravel. Very apprehensive about starting it up using my power left as I think it well blacken the water completely. Easier just to leave it in. Also read that it is not ideal for live plants, main reason for this tank was to grow live plants. Fluval substrate is about 3 mm diameter, should not be sucked through, however very soft and disintegrates easily. Good buy ,however I will not be using

It doesn't assemble easily, and the carbon cartridges weren't designed well. The water is supposed to flow through them, but just goes below or above.I thought the plastic would break due to the amount of force needed to get the cartridges in place. Also, the tubes are too long. Because the top of the tubes must remain under water, i have to maintain the water level at the very top of the tank. Not ideal when there's kids around. If I take the tank apart to fully clean sometime, i'll cut them down an inch.On the upside, once assembled, it installed easily and was a good price.

So far so good.This UGF works pretty well and comes with everything you need to set it up.So far its keeping my 10 gallon tank's water nice and clear..Id recommend at least 15lbs of gravel (with a 10 gallon tank)to help the filtering process and to help keep your decorations stable.Im also running a second filter to help keep the debris down to a min.

My girls have a 15 gallon tank with six 2-and-a-half inch gold fish. A bit of a load for this small tank. Water clouding used to be a problem even after changing 20% of the water every week.After installing only the lee's under gravel filter.... The water is now crystal clear over several weeks of use. Weekly bottom cleaning and water change are still a must of course.A nice filtering option

Great product! I'd been searching for underground filters at local pet stores but found it on Amazon. A bit smaller measurements but not a problem for my application. I set it up so the the up tube lines up with the filter pump intake tube, thus drawing debris from under the gravel - making for less major gravel cleaning. Tank is crystal clear!

The ad is misleading. The actual size much less it was a waste of my money as it was too small for my aquarium.
